Axel Diameter on Spectrum 4-4-0 Main Drivers???
Posted by Oregon Pacific on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 11:01 AM

Hello everyone.  Got an interesting one for today.  I'm working on retrofitting a TCS WOW 21-pin sound decoder in my Spectrum 4-4-0 and want to use a GME Chuff Cam.  Does anyone out there know what the axel diameter is for the main driver?  Specifically the #2 axel?  GME offers Cams with diameters to fit 2.5mm, 4mm, 4.5mm, and 5mm axels respectively.  Many thanks and happy modeling everyone!

Is this the Civil War model or the modern American? And why not measure it yourself? All you need to do is remove the cover plate underneath, with the engine on its back on a good craddle. The plastic brakes and power pickups will be a bit in the way - just be careful to tuck everything back carefully when puting the bottom plate back on.
