From Jan Lorenzo
Hi all -

Thought I'd send the group here a photo of last night's test run of a NYCTA steeplecab project.

Q car's excellent body kit, trucks made from a 2 rail Q drive with freight gearing and Wagner sideframes, scratch wipers on all eight wheels. End railings scratch from brass stock. Styrene dummy 3rd rail beams & shoes. Airtank by cab is styrene. Toolbox is wood. LED pico smd directional headlights. Paint is Vallejo flat red and Krylon flat black, overcoat with Krylon matte clear.  Kadee 804 couplers. Window panes are in. Made the headlight lenses by machining down 1/4" lucite round stock into the right diameter, slicing thin, and then polishing the faces.  Now on to decaling and then its ready for delivery.

Can pull some good weight.  Set up two sections of isolated track to run two rail, easily pulled around an old NYC flat with my heaviest trolley on it.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out with this build.

Very neat model!  I like electric locomotives, but they don't fit my locale. Thank you for sharing the final product. Dan

Thanks for sharing the fine Steeple-cab model.  About 7mi as the crow flies from my house is the Western Railway Museum, where lives Sacramento Northern #654, a restored GE Steeple-cab.  Sacramento Northern 654 - Western Railway Museum
