This just showed up on eBay, and I had don't think I have seen this model before. I did not know the SOUTHERN has streamlined any of their 4-6-2 Pacifics.
What a beauty! I think this will be the inspiration for the streamlined locomotive I will build for my railroad.
I have a damaged USRA Light Mountain 4-8-2 I can use for the project. Mine will be a little bit larger.
Another one for the "ideas" file.

Living the dream.
Russia did a lot of streamling similar to that. could be one of those repainteed. Southern did do a streamlined as a test if i recall. somewhat similar to PRR k5 design. if I recall.

NVSRRRussia did a lot of streamling similar to that.
That was my first thought. I have always loved Russia/Soviet version of the mid-century design.
Being that SOUTHERN did it, it is plausible!
Kevin, why not buy that one on eBay? Sure, it is pricey, but you were going to spend a ton more for that used steam engine that you found in an antique store a few years back.

which is notable for predating Kuhler's design by three years!
some people compare this with the India WP 'look' but that is as silly as Lionel calling a 3768-style K4s the 'Torpedo' - fastest locomotive in the world - when the obvious thing was S1 6100.
The locomotive Kuhler did for the B&O (if I recall, the first streamlining of 5804 in 1937; correct me if wrong) might have been an inspiration for the somewhat over-the-top penile expression of the Russian locomotive.
If anyone hasn't yet, check Bear's photo.

richhotrainKevin, why not buy that one on eBay?
I would never be able to bring myself to "destroy" that model to make it into a SGRR locomotive.

What a beauty!
The same seller on ebay also has the O scale version for $200 more...
