Model Railroader Face Book page

I must be missing something.

Their page is full of things like this:

There is nothing to click on to see the locomotive, or the rail car they mention.

Just wondering what'[s up with this?  Confused

That is the problem of FaceBook, and the people who post there.

I do not know why I even have a farcebook page. I think I will dump it... after aul... I never look at it!

Technical glitches on FB are frequent but then again technical glitches on this forum are constant. Both are free and I do not complain about free.

The things I like about FB are the sheer number of photos that are displayed every day, the historical ones are amazing. There are so many very specialized FB groups that are hard to find but well worth the hunt if you have a certain interest.

I belong to some Canadian Pacific FB sites and a lot of the chit-chat is amongst CP train crews sitting on a siding killing time talking shop. These crews also post photos of some spectacular scenery as they cross the country.

Some of the old-timers post photos from days gone by like this one that said there is our help for the ten-mile push back in such and such a year. Bob so and so could really give us a smooth ride the way he worked the throttle on those pushes.

Lots of great stories.

I ask for help on FB but I am smart enough to filter out the nonsense which is way worse than the bit of BS we get here lately. Then again on some of the really specialized sites with only a small number of members the advice can be terrific. There is one group that is only about weathering track.

I have unjoined a couple of FB MRR groups because as the number of members grows so do the infiltrators. I just left a Canadian Modelers group because they were posting pics of anti-vax protesters waving Confederate flags at a protest in Ottawa. Not sure how a Confederate flag fits in with a protest in Canada but I was free to leave as I was free to join that group so I did. Another U.S.-based modelers group quickly became a platform for the NAZI party so I left that one as well. Too bad as it was also a really good group for a while.

For all, its faults FB can be a wealth of resources if you know how to look.

"They" weren't; one person did and that got shut down by the moderators after you so publicly announced your departure on that thread. But the moderators can't be on every second of every minute of every hour of the day to catch things that fast.

The "Report to Group Admins" is a useful button in facebook groups...

The "they" I was referring to were the people "infiltrators" posting inappropriate content, not the group itself. It was a good group. I hope that nutbar got a permanent ban.
