Cracking open a Mantua MU2 Drive
Posted by horepairshop on Thursday, September 2, 2021 9:12 PM

Hello folks of the forums. I recently purchased Mantua GP20 from a train show. The engine is overall in very good condition but it has one major issue. The gears on the axles of power truck are very worn down to the point that one of them is not engaging at all of with the worm gear from the motor which means I need to full disassmble to the thing to get it repaird. It is unforutnutly one of the older drives that has the cover plate riveted on. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to reattatch the cover to the truck. I have heard that 2-56 screws and nuts could potentially work but I have not heard it confirmed. Thanks in advance.

Long #2-56 will work but I have done many by tapping then for #4-40, top and bottom.
