Shop crews have eased Frank S(LGB/Aster) out of the engine house for a twilight run tonight. Its very humid and hot here in north central Indiana, we have heavy storms coming down from the north that will hopefully hold off till the run is complete. I am waiting on true twilight so the layout lighting will be activated. Frank S is one of the best second hand live steam locos you can start out with if the LGB Euro theme is your choice. With a large sight glass window that cannot get air locked like other styles, gas fired, designed for 1 channel RC control and ablity to run around even R1 curves if thats what your railway has. It was designed with the "LGB System" in mind. I have lighted my front lanterns off the RC receiver power with an LED kit mend for a short coarse off road truck. Three LEDs handle front lighting and the fourth spare I used to light up the sight glass window in the cab for night time running. I am using a RCS palm size 2.4ghx transmitter to a Spectrum DSM2 receiver. This is what garden railroading is all about to me, no track power, no worries about rain joiners being loose or not conducting power. I will worry about that in the fall when it turns cold and I run my indoor trains. And I still run live steam year round, the steam plume out the stack is much more impressive in cold weather. With the heat and humidity, I dont expect to see much tonight. I will have a video of the run later as long as the weather holds off. Mikie
