Good Evening Folks! The day is slowly coming to an end, and I can say it´s been one of the few days I have really enjoyed. The weather was OK, and running my old Marklin loco gave me fond memories of my childhood days with my first train set. I even made a short video from it: <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4Yt1xtexoWY" width="425" height="350"></iframe> I also spent some time going over various threads here, making me come to a rather unpopular conclusion. If it weren´t for the folks in this thread and the occasional WPF and "Show Me..." postings, I´d consider visiting this forum a total waste of time. The majority of contributions answer questions asked only because the OPs are too lazy to do a proper search, or the never ending "The end of ... )fill in what you like) is dead" - threads. There is hardly an interesting layout building thread, or scratchbuilding thread. I sometimes pity the folks who spend a lot of time helping and explaining, without a word of thanks in return. I don´t blame our host for this (how could I?). Finally, a forum is what the contributing people make out of it. Attempts by a few to beef the contents up by starting a blog-like thread about their layout build usually stopped after a short while only - for lack of feedback. I am also visiting a number of other model railroading forums, most of which suffer a similar fate, but some a lot more lively. Part of this is certainly due to a different, more pointed structure. Oh, well - didn´t mean to rant, but seeing the same old stuff over and over again gets a bit boring, doesn´t it? TTFN & CU tomorrow!
