One of my Atlas #4 turnouts frog points are cut too narrow and one of my locomotives has it's wheels stuck in between the too narrow rails. Is filing and/or sanding here to widen the rails an acceptable fix?
Thanks
When I was in N scale... a LONG time ago, I used all Atlas switches on my first layout. I found it was just much easier to replace a malfunctioning turnout that to try to get it to work right.
Back then, I could buy a manual Atlas turnout for about $4.00 and swap out the electric switch motor from the bad turnout.

I use Atlas n scale turnouts, and I have filed parts without problems.
That said, I did ruin one by pushing too hard. Do it carefully and I don't think it will be a problem
If you ruin your turnout, forget my advice.
