Went to the first train show, at the Grant Co fair grounds near Peru, IN today, The first show thats been actually held locally since Covid shut down everything of that nature last year. Nice show for a first time event, 140+ tables with even some set up in the parking lot between the 2 buildings where the rest of the tables where. Tons of HO brass, regular HO and N and Lionel as always. But also a nice selection of G scale at excellent prices. Picked up the USAT GP38-2 for $175, UP hopper for $30, LGB BN grain hopper for $40 and the unboxed LGB NP box car for $15. Great buys in my opinion! Prices I did observe on other small scale items I looked at were very good considering how long its been since we had a real show. Saw many full bags in buyers hands. Looking forward to the next show at this location(this was their very first show ever), which will be in November of this year. Mike the Aspie.
Silly NT's, I have Asperger's Syndrome
Hi Mike,
Those were nice finds!
I think we are still a long ways away from having live train shows here in Ontario. We are in our third wave and the numbers are skyrocketing.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
I am hoping to go to the Golden Spike train show in Tampa this December.

Living the dream.
With the mutations in the virus, I fear we may see a 4th surge here in the states, but lets hope for the best. As an added bonus, the GP38-2 has sound in it. Not sure what brand, it sounds good though. I will find out as I have to tear her down and convert to onboard battery power as I run dead rail on my G scale layout. This one will be my first to get more than just a battery and an on/off switch. This one will get full RC control of speed and direction. If the sound board supports RC control of bell and horn, I will do that as well.

Mike... you are making me jealous!
I am a fan of onboard sound in G scale!
Then you will enjoy this short video. The shell is just sitting on the chassis as this was a test run. Engine has a 8.4v(7cell) 5000mah Nimh battery in it, Spectrum 2.4ghz DSM2 receiver and an electronic speed controler for RC cars. All of it stuff I had on hand and the receiver is compatable with my RCS palm size transmitter I use on my G scale live steamer. A different receiver and a 14.8v lith/ion battery will get put in at some point, along with better lighting as the early dim headlights this version has totally suck in the daylight. Sound board is a Phoenix "Big Sound" board from back in the day. Pretty much top notch at the time it came out.
