This may be old news to those of you who are MR subscribers but I found out today from my historical socieity that Walthers has advanced reservations available on some limited run Mainline SW7s in 6 roadnames. (Release date: Late May '21) Each roadname is being offered in both DC & DCC. The sound versions will be outfitted with "ESU(R) Sound", which I presume is Loksound 5, or a paired down version of it. I don't see an undecorated version offered with this release.
I have an undecorated non-sound Mainline SW1 that Walthers released a few years back. It has nice detailing, good weight for pulling, and is a very smooth runner. I expect the SW7 to be similar in all three categories.
I'm not a big fan of Walthers rolling stock but I've been quite happy with the few locomotive offerings that I've picked up from them over the years - going back as far as the original release of their SW1 in the early 90s. Good detailing and a great little puller.
FWIW...

A couple of my favorite locomotives are a pair of those in Chessie System livery which my 70-something parents felt moved to give 50-something me for Christmas several years back. They are also not-DCC.
And yes, they drive nice! Of course the second thing I did with them (within more than moments but less than a day after opening their boxes!) was find out how to take the bodies off and put guys in the cab.
And given that ...
And given that since my initials are SW I have arbitrarily and impartially decided that SW are my favorite diesels ...
I may have to acquire a pair of those SW7.
I saw Dana's video on the announcment and the ICG example he showed looked great.

Their NW2's are out. I have two and they are really nice.
I will get the SW7s when they are available.
