As a Chinese-American, of course I am into Chinese locomotives. It seems that good old Bachmann is one of the biggest makers of Chinese steam, but only for the Chinese market it seems. Does anyone know how to import them over? Also, they have AFAIK the only plastic RTR model of a C36-7. Anyone also have more info about them?
You could write or phone and ask them.

Steven I have some recollection that Bachmann did import into the US some of their SY class 2-8-2 models, perhaps because a number of United States tourist lines had imported examples of the SY prototype so there was domestic interest in them
I myself would consider buying a 2-10-2 QJ model having enjoyed seeing the two examples that the Iowa Interstate used to run, sometimes as double headers, and once in a triple header with Milwaukee Road 4-8-4 #261. 28 drivers in full steam on a single train!

I have swapped emails with Bachmann on a couple of occasions. They always answered promptly with the information I asked for.
I'm very happy with all my Bachmann motive power, by the way.

Hi Steven. It's great to see another Chinese model railfan here on the forum.
There's a seller based in Hong Kong that is on Ebay who specializes in selling Chinese prototype stock to people based in the US, I can't say the name here but if you look up other classes of Chinese locos from Bachmann China on there his name will pop up.
Until a couple years ago there was a Bachmann retail store in Shanghai where one could purchase products quite literally off the production line however they have sadly closed.

Yup, I've seen that seller. 400 bucks for a Mikado? I convertEd prices directly from the Bachmann China store and a 解放 Class costs round 270 bucks while from the seller it's 420 dollars.
A little off-topic but the last train show I went to had for the first time displays of Asian MRR. My whole life it was North American and European displays but these additions of the Japanese and Chinese layouts were a delight to see. It can only be a good thing for the growth of the hobby worldwide to have these new additions on display at the local train shows.
I poked around the net and found this source in Vancouver:

Seems that a lot of the items are "out of stock", but it might be worth contacting the guy. I don't have any affiliations with this seller.

I found a China based HO locomotive manufacturer, but the minimum order is 1500 locos.
