SP&E, My Layout update.
Posted by AggroJones on Saturday, January 15, 2005 4:54 PM
I went on the scenery kick began doing many portions of the painted glueshell common in many of my photos. I still haven't finished any single area enough to start ballasting track yet. Alot of "bushing" needs to be done on this basic ground. Here's some pix.

The young AC-5 heads up the 2% grade on the widest curve on the RR. I need to add more trees in the back.

You see, no back drop yet. My rockwork isn't "mindblowing", but they do look good close up in person.

One of the sharp curves that leads into my closet.

This scene will look better when the ballast covers all trackside imperfections.

Since this is a railfans railroad, I plan to have groups of people standing around in logial train viewing locations when some scenes are "complete". I've got my work cut out for me. Handpainting 100 undec figures is quite a task.

Looking good--a fitting place for all that heavy steam power. Hand-painting figures is a chore, but then, I suppose it's less of a chore than earning the money to PAY for 100 painted figures!!

Cab foward look great of course, and your rocks look very good.

Can you ever have enough trees ? O don't think so.

Great job AJ

I'm always amazed at how well other modelers are able to do scenery. It just scares me to death to think that one day it's going to be my turn and I don't really believe I can pull it off to my satisfaction. Hmmm, sounds like the Stones song. Excellent work Aggro. It's always nice to see pictures of your railroad. I never get tired of looking at that CabForward.

Looking good Aggro,
I see you are using your "filter trees". I still plan to use your idea on my layout. Dave

That rock work does not have to be mind blowing at all.. it fits right in as if it belongs.

Good work. By the way just how sharp is that curve going to the closet??

That curve is about 23 1/2" radius. Not quite 24". That line has restrictions. Y3 is the largest steam I will send through there.

Thanks. Yes thats real dirt. I used 3 distinct shades gathered from 3 different locations. Orangish--from near a light railstation, Light grayish brown-- from my back yard, and Yellowi***an--from the field a block from my house. You would'nt believe how much metal crap I "magneted" out of this stuff! Astonishing!

You have done a hot job dawg. I like it alot. I do not like that steam train though, iT should be a modern diesel in place of it. LOL I like your scenery skills and I give you a A- on that project. Go ahead and print this post and pin it on your fridgerator to be displayed. LOL

Ya know, I used to be like that, modern UP. Then I came to my senses. [:p]
Now all those powered box cars just sit on my shelf.
