Genesis SD70MAC question
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, January 13, 2005 7:59 PM
I just put two Athearn Genesis SD70MACs in the Executive scheme on hold at my LHS. I've had a bad experience with Genesis engines before but these looked really good and I couldn't resist. Are these going to run good for a long time? Are there any quirks I should be aware of? I got a price of $100 each and I want ot know if I just bought two lemons. I probably should have asked first but it was an impulse buy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I just heard on another forum that these sometimes are found to have warped trucks. Does anyone know anything about this and a possible fix?

Thanks,
Jeremy

well, that's a bit pricy in my book. i have seen some Katos [SD70MAC] (THE BEST LOCOMOTIVES!!!!!!!!!) for like $100 on the internet. i'd go with a Kato myself. better quallity and running, and it's a Kato. just my 2 cents [2c]

Kato the best, that BS unless you like thick handrails and grabs and you want to put them together. I have athearn SD70MAC (H2) it runs just as good as katos and the paint is 100% better than katos and after adding pilot details and the wipers no comparison athearn wins hands down. Just look at the differances between the kato Alaska mac and athearns Alaska mac.
My 2 cents.
