'SPECIAL ANNOUCEMENT' update

Hey Guys                                                                                                                 Here's a update, my shed is up!!, there are a couple of details that need to be taken care of, electrical, isulation and drywall is coming this month, I want to show pictures but I'm having problems with uploading pics to this forum[:( I'm going call customer service for help, I really want to show the pogress, Hey take care and have a SAFE Labor day weekend!!!                                                                                                                    Sincerley                                                                                                                    Trainsrme1

Using "Imgur", go to your images and click the image you want to display. This window should open:

Then click the "Copy" button nexct to the "BB Code" option, and that will put the proper syntax code on your clipboard.

Then simply paste the text here in your Post Body, and all should be OK.

Kevin don't want to highjack this  but question  on imgur  that is what I do but I get this at the bottom of my posted pictures   "alt=''''/>   what is that ?

and if I try to post more then one  I get multiples of the same picture   any ideas

Do exactly what the Imgur tool says.  Just use THEIR 'copy' button and your browser's 'paste'.

What may not be clear is that you do NOT use any Kalmbach 'utility' to put the link in.  Do not use the little 'link' button, or the 'insert image' tool -- these will result in gibberish.  The Imgur tool does all the coding for the link.  Just go to the post window, click where you want it to go, and use paste (Usually ctrl-V or cmd-V shortcut).

If what is going in the posts is still not producing good links, or using their 'copy' button on other images doesn't update the clipboard, you should contact Imgur to e-mail you specific instructions.  When you ask, give them your browser version and specific operating-system and computer information -- it saves time.

You are looking at a garbled alt tag, either HTML or BBcode -- this contains information text about the image in case someone's browser can't render it.  This was more important in the days of logy dialup connections and NetSCrap.  

The problem is that I see about 3 syntax errors in just the little bit you posted, which does not bode well if that is part of what Imgur provided you.  If you look at how Kalmbach's quote tool formats the 'user' tag, you can see how the 'alt' tag would likely be used in the forum software, with the alternate text between double quotes, as in

[alt="My new  train room - look on my works ye mighty and despair!"]

(What is probably in there is more like [alt="Check out this cool pic from Imgur, your choice for cheap  image-URL provision!"] but I am cynical when I run out of tawny port...)

Assuming a PC, a simpler method (for me) that also seems to work fine is to right-click on your image in Imgur, select "Copy image address", then come back to the forum, click on Insert/Edit Image, paste, and then click "Ok". That's what I did to insert Kevin's same image below. [Control-click probably works on a Mac in place of right-click, but it's been a minute since I used one]

That should be fine, but some sites with 'hotlinking protection' may not serve links not pasted through their "utility". It is possible that if that method works today, it may break (in a way quite similar to a certain photo site likened to a pail of excrement) if at any time the Imgur service wants to control hotlink access to potentially viral image sourcing...

Control-click probably works on a Mac in place of right-click, but it's been a minute since I used one

Works in 10.6.8 and 10.11.last; I don't see what would break in later versions.

True enough. Works for now on Imgur and many (most?) other picture-sharing sites.

 Remember you can't link to your gallery on the picture host site, each picture has a sharing URL, you need to paste those one at a time in your message for it to work.
