Hey, that's great! Congratulations! Having a nice building for the layout is a joy and I'm happy for you. I had my 14x16 shed built by some local Amish contractors and it's wonderful. Make sure it's well insulated and the electrical is safe and there are enough outlets.

I'm in NW Arkansas and it gets plenty hot and cold here. I had a Misubishi Mini-Split installed and, while fairly expensive, it keeps the building temperature economically stable all year around. Best investment I've made in years besides my John Deere tractor!

Let us know how you're progressing and best of luck.

I know the feeling.

I had my 12x20x9 train shed built onsite in 1998. $2283.00 complete. Bet yours is a few dollars more.

I have added a 6x8 space to the front end to give me a work desk space with programmimg track and then was able to use the entire 12x20 for my layout. I was anxious to get benchwork started but of course i did the wiring, insulation and sheetrocking done first.

Have fun but think out what you will need and add as necessary.

Hi James                                                                                                                  Believe me, I will make sure that I have all that I need for my trainroom, Im going to have someone do the elecrtical, isulation and sheetrocking for me, I want to have a dust free or as much as possible dust free room, as well as a good air condition system.

Exellent news!  Thanks for sharing.  Can't wait for the progress updates.  Never too late to start building.

Awesome.  The day is coming when I can do the same.  The current plan is to acquire lots of stuff in preparation of that day.  At retirement, we plan to look for a rural home on five to ten acres, with a shop building that can be converted into a layout space.

Remember the tin can; the MKT's central Texas branch...
