Protecting dry transfer striping
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 5:55 PM
Decals would have been my first choice, but WS dry transfers was the only thing I had to simulate a 4-inch sill stripe on a repainted Kato SD-40. (Don't ask how I actually got the things applied....[banghead]!) Anyway they are ultra-fragile, I'm afraid to even breathe on them for fear of accidentally peeling them off. Is there anything other than dullcote that I should spray on to protect them?

Polyscale also make flat and gloss clear acrylic paints. I use the gloss one to protect dry transfer numbers when I add them to my F-units or to the number boards of other locos. The flat one works well as a brush or spray-on protector for weathering and the like.
