BigDaddyThe itching got worse, a lot worse. I've putting putting cortisone on it and 5 days later the elbow still itches. Doesn't look infected. I don't know if it's a spider bite or a tick bite. If it was a tick, it wasn't on there long enough to give me lyme disease.
Henry, Get thee in touch with your doctor... Both the spector of Lyme Disease and some spider bites can be fatal if not treated. A very close friend of mine, a gentleman who was a Technology teacher, a model railroader, member of my BSA Troop committee, and member of my church, and who, when in his early twenties, almost made the US Olympic Canoeing team, and who was still canoeing close to 100 miles on camping trips in his early seventies, contracted Lyme Disease on one of those trips. He died a slow and uncomfortable death from complications of it.
Don't mess around with this! Call your doctor and let him/her make a judgement!

Right along the lines of my experiences with MTD built products. Crummy is putting it nicely. Surprisingly for a Nordic company, I have had and know of others that have had horrible experiences with their snowblowers. Can't figure that one out.

Hope that isn't true of everything else with their name on the label. My wife just purchased a Viking/Husqvarna sewing machine. It came highly rated from the independent, multi-brand store here in Portland. Her long-time friend has one as swears by it. Far better than swearing at it.
I'm sure to find a lot of sewing machine reviewers here in the diner . . .
As for that banana split, looks like if you poke it, it bleeds. If that's a straw wrapper next to it, you'd better order up a few extra spoons!

This post may get deleted, but I just had one of those WTF moments. One of the pop us ads I see on this forum was from Lockheed Martin, showing a missile streaking away from a B-52; with ad copy that ended with the words, "now at Hypersonic speeds."
Please do not construe this as criticism of the ads, I realize that Kalmbach needs to generate revenue to continue to operate this forum. Just puzzled about that one ad.
Kalmbach may not control who is able to advertise with these pop-up ads, but who is the targeted demographic audience here? I do not think any of us talking model trains is in the market for any weapons, hypersonic or not.

You have a strong point Mike. I did mention in last month's Diner, Duluth Mineasota and Superior Wisconsin both make up the Port Cities. It's almost like we have half a port here
Here's a picture that was taken under the Bong Bridge in Superior Wisconsin where I photographed. It's a shot down the line in the fog present of the railroad swing bridge connecting the two states.
I have lots of family in Wisconsin as I know you do too. The swing bridge should help with this as it's one of the ways the connection is made in the Port Cities.
Here's another magnificent Bridge connecting Duluth to Superior Wisconsin. In the upper Midwest most people say Duluth Superior when referencing the area.
All Bridges have a name but temporarily I have forgotten this one. Isn't she a beauty though?

Good morning. Long day coming up today.
My wife is having an island put into our kitchen-dining-family room. She ordered chairs which are between regular and bar height. Since she couldn't find them here, she ordered them from Omaha and didn't want to pay shipping, so we are driving the two hours to pick them up.
I have traveled several times since the virus hit, but this will be her first time out of our town since January.
I have had plenty of chigger bites with itching that lasted over a week, but this doesn't sound like where chiggers would bite.
I'm sorry to hear of the health issues for several of you. Please take care of yourselves, and know that you have friends in the diner who care about you.

I recall a Country song from around 1970 "Me and you and a dog called Boo", and wondered if the "Wheatfields of St Paul", was the Minnesota, St Paul?
At the time the song was popular, the mayor of Duluth was Ben Boo. I recall the mayor of St. Paul (I think McCarthy) sitting in as a visiting DJ on a Twin Cities radio staton and having fun with playing that song.
MN wheat is generally in the western half of the state. Southeast MN is more corn, northwest (the Iron Range) isn't really great farmland.

TF .... You commented on my bridge. Thanks. My Mrs. Hippy River Bridge is on one of the first sections of my layout. It has two Walthers double track bridges along with four Atlas single track bridges. It is 4' long, and it has hand laid track on wood ties which are homemade. The piers and abutments are made from 1/4" plywood.
Before making the bridge, I refered to a Kalmbach book about modeling bridges. I can't remember the title now, but it is an excellent referance.

Back when we were still making individual threads on the new ads, I mentioned that some of the ads were a bit, uh, explicit and crossed MR's own limits. Someone read that post, and apparently they do have some control over content, as those particular ads disappeared.
I suppose the Lock-Mart ads could be claimed to be political. I used to work for a big aerospace company and I'm proud of my work, but if others are offended, I can see their side, too.

Lyme Disease probably can be diagnosed with a blood test, but it could be something else.
A new heart problem needs a new EKG. And, you may need a stent. If that's the case, you're going to be on blood thinners anyway, so get used to the idea. It is a royal pain in the skin. Be prepared! Buy lots of Band-Aids, gauze pads, larger sticky bandages and tape. What used to be scrapes will be minor disasters. Blood on the bedsheets will take on a whole different meaning.
The MR bridge book I mentioned in my previous post is Model Railroad Bridges and Trestles . It is an excellent book . It was first published in 1992.

Judy sister Kelly has been in the hospital for a better part of a week and needs everyone's prayers as well. She has severe Corona and is having problems breathing. Judy is a mess.
I had a tick for 36 hours, it was on my back, I thought it was a moquito bite. All the joints in my had hurt for the next 2 years despite 2 courses of antibiotics and I never tested positive for Lyme.

I do have a story. I ran away from home in Voyagers National Park when I was 15-16. I walked through the thick woods keeping direction as the crow flies to make my way from Kabetogama to highway 53. I do remember the number I pulled off when I reached the clearing before I hitch-hiked back to Saint Louis Park. 87 and I picked off a few more stragglers for the next few days.

My Brother and his wive got that stuff. She passed away, he is still in rehab trying to learn how to breathe again.
Their adult son, handicapped, still does not know yet. Brian said he wanted to tell him himself.

As long as we are in North Dakota, here is the train signal.
Since the signal is not in use, the head has been turned 90 degrees away from the track that isn't there anymore.
DMVW removed the track but the signal was protecting the junction with the BNSF, so the signal belongs to them and not to the DMVW
