Athern BB Switcher

I found 2 of my old athern switchers one dummy and one powered. One an sw7 and one an s12. The bodys were beyond repair but the chassis run good. The chassis look almost identical. Would an s12 fit on the s7 and visa versa? and would athern sw1000,1500 bodys fit?

The trucks and motor can be swapped from one chassis to the other. As for the bodies, I think the SW7 and SW1000/1500 can be swapped.

The SW7 and the S12 shared the same drive. As far as the SW1000 and SW1500 no they will not fit the BB SW7/S12 frames. The SW7/S12 snaps on to the side of the  frame at the fuel tank while the SW1000 and SW1500 snaps into four slots  located on the inside of the  frame by the motor.

The new SW1500, or the original SW1500?

The new SW1500, or the original SW1500?

Athearn only made one SW1500 and that's the one they released in '91.. The SW1000 and SW1500 shell  snaps into four slots by the motor.

The confusion.

Athearn mislabled their SW7 as a SW1500 back in the  mid 60s when it was  first released.  Athearn finally labeled it a SW7 when they released the correct SW1500 in '91.  The SW7 shell fuel tank snaps onto two lugs on the frame.
