This question is related to my previous thread about renumbering locomotives.
When you purchase an undecorated Atlas Gold locomotive how are the number boards out of the box? Are they just clear acrylic?
Rick
I don't think they have the Gold series anymore.
All I see is Classic, Master and Trainman series. Some dealers have them, but nothing on the Atlas web site.
Maybe tell us just what you have, and look for the parts diagram for it on the Atlas site, and see if it answers your question.
Mike.
PS. I just went and looked at what I had. I have a Master Series, GP40, undecorated, and the number boards are clear. They are part of the clear plastic casting that also makes up the headlights. It comes out as 1 piece.

Thanks for the info.
Master comes in silver and gold with gold designating sound.
I am looking at a MP-15DC on Ebay that is marked as Item #9412.
I was just trying to figure out what I was getting into if I go this route. I can find plenty of pictures of the number boards in decorated units but not undecorated.
The clear fixture comes out with the headlights, as 1 piece. It does light up, with the headlight. I used black numbers, comes out OK.
Nearly all undecorated locomotives come with clear numberboards.
I do not use locomotive lighting, so i simply paint mine black and put the number decals in place. I try to keep everything as simple as possible.
