MRVP video frequency
Posted by Pruitt on Saturday, February 22, 2020 4:08 PM

Maybe it's just my imagination, but...

MRVP used to have a pretty regular new video post of every other business day - Monday-Wednesday-Friday-Tuesday-Thursday-Monday... and so on.

I'm not talking about the filler stuff, like the videos from ModelRailroader.com (like "Inside the Aprin 2020 Issue of Model Railroader" and "Inside Cody's Office"), but the non-sponsored MRVP originals. My sense is that those are now appearing at the rate of about two a week rather than the 2 1/2 a week rate of the past.

Is that the case, or am I imagining things?

My general impression is the same as yours but I find myself checking in on MRVP less often so it is hard to quantify, and objectively it might be that the quantity is the same.  It does seem I am looking at fewer original content vids that are offered.  The toy train stuff I do not look at for example.  The new rehab my railroad that is going to focus on Kelly's Island on the MR&T might be good however.  We'll see.

I don't have a feel for the frequency.  Is that Psych 101 where in the experiment pigeon A pecks on a lever and gets food everytime?  Pigeon B peck on the lever and only gets food some of the time.  Pigeon B pecks a whole lot more that Pigeon A.

The current series are Cody's office, Ask MRVP, the Olympia (now Popp's basement layout) It's my railroad, Kathy Millatt (lost interest with her protacted snow scenes) and what ever the current "Project" is.  I don't care for Toy trains, watched a few, only because my neighbor keeps asking me about his inherited Amer. Flyer locos.  Trackside Adventures is gone and I assume product reviews and layout tours are a free product.

My biggest beef is that the search function is lame.  I swear if I look at a project railroad I don't see all the videos.  The recent Walthers kitbash doesn't get it's own category, you have to search for it.   I just clicked on a half a dozen videos in the "Video Vault" and none of them will play.

There is still much I haven't seen. Hopefully the new software will upgrade MRVP too.

edit the latest video is Drew's Trackside Adventures  Zip it!

I think they're running out of ideas.  Jerry Leone took a break from reading old issues of MR to us to start a new Spaces to Places series in which he spent 15 minutes lust moving structures around.  Many small jobs are being stretched into multiple episodes to help get their post count up.  I think I'll let my subscription expire and let a few months of content queue up and then resubscribe later.

I have the right to remain silent.  By posting here I have given up that right and accept that anything I say can and will be used as evidence to critique me.

Tried it out. Not impressed and the one time I really wanted to veiw something in the arcives section, it did not work, other videos in other sections worked fine, so not me. They are trying  but they are 10 years behind the curve. Go to u-tube and vidios play without the buffering signal coming up but not on this site, it always comes up for a fewe sec.

Apparently the buffering never got fixed.  It still buffers every 15 seconds or so.
