Too thick for a brake rod on a car. ANd those look more like standoffs than pipe unions on the right side. Handrail/conduit or steam/water pipe maybe? Missing any parts on the Royals?

From a distance, or bad eyes, it looks like two people sitting in the rear of a long boat on a lake.
The two closely-spaced mounting pegs are unusual. At first glance, I almost thought it to be the door-latching mechanism for a reefer, but there's no handle.

I think it might be part of the diaphragm on the end of a Rapido passenger car. Take a look at the parts diagram and there is a piece that looks similar.

How did you know that John? I looked at the Rapido coaches (obviously not hard enough) and I did not see those parts until you told me they were there.
I have thirteen cars and you guessed it, after close inspection (required as the part is hardly visible) car #13 was the one missing the part. It is now back in place. A press-fit that obviously wasn't pressed home the first time because it is very secure now. You must be a Rapido guru.

Yes, it is the bar down the side of the diaphragm. Hard to spot unless you are looking for it.

Still recovering from a visit from tragety, loss, that My immediate family has be through the past 5 months......Myself included. We are already on Our way to fully becoming stronger in our quest for a better life..............
