Yesterdays Post Missing?
Posted by BATMAN on Friday, January 17, 2020 12:12 PM

I seem to have a bunch of posts and a thread missing from yesterday, I wonder if they will be restored?

I've had the same thing going on Brent.

Nobody knows anything about why.

A wild guess is that is is something to do with the locked post the Craig M made on the 16th.

Don't know if this is the beginning of the "upgrade" or not.  No body knows. Confused

The caziness continues.

I wouldn't count on it, Brent.  It would be great if the people tidying up after yesterday's service could find and post them, but I doubt the server even kept them anywhere.  Could be wrong, though.

It's a conspiracy by big industry!

My Royal Hudson thread had many more responses in it than there are now. You know big industry, they don't want you to be able to fix something on your own so you will have to buy a new one or at the very least pay them to fix it! Just look at the auto industry, who can fix their own car anymore, you need too many specialized tools. It's big industry I tell ya!PirateLaugh

Craig put on a post title starting January 16 - that says things were messed up.

Guess they really were.

Have fun,

Ha, I thought my post was deleated/band from view last night (1/16/20) when it was not there this morning. So this has happened to others. To repost now what I typed then will not be fun. But it may come back to me later.

Good thing it was not a money transfer, it's not where it started from and it's not where it was suppose to go.

Don't worry, the guys that do money transfers hire way better IT support.

I have the right to remain silent.  By posting here I have given up that right and accept that anything I say can and will be used as evidence to critique me.

Actually, no...

Depends on the company....

One in particular is worse than you could imagine.

One night I spent 2&1/2 hours arguing over the phone with them, all because one for a customer got "misplaced" in the wrong state... I still have no clue how they turned VT into NV..... Must be they went left at Albuquerque....

Evidently I have been misusing the word "upgrade" all these years.  I always thought it meant an improvement.

I think its time for them to consider new software rather than trying to fix the old one...over and over.

And if they look around they just might find a improved one, that has a proven history associated with it.

A number of 'club sites' and 'for sale sites' have had to leave the old Yahoo mother, and actually made the transistions more easily than first lamented.

PS: Up front, I am NOT a computer geek.

This is the forum software I am suggesting https://xenforo.com/

I used it for a lot of years on Boatdesign.net ,and it works great and has great features.

This other boating forum I participated in also uses that same software

What are you going to do thoughLaugh

Not sure why responses on helping me get my Royal Hudson fixed would be edited out. I do know a handful did disappear though, along with my entire thread on going to Vegas.

Hello All,

mbinsewi
Where are you getting that infomation?

There is no "information" per se.

I have had posts deleted or "edited out".

One particular one I remember was a response about graffiti and the entire post was "lost" even though there was no "upgrade" to the software.

None of my respone violated forum policies but it was "lost" anyway.

Let's see how long this thread lasts before it ends up in the...

...the Deleted Posts forum.

Hope this helps.

jjdamnit......darn it!Pirate

I don't think you quite get what people are saying here.

It's not that your post disappears after you post it.

The preparation to post mysteriously disappears off your computer or phone screen while you are preparing it.  All your pictures and ducks in a row preparing to post.

All of a sudden it's just gone before you even post it.

I think that's what we're talking about here and it happens quite frequently to me.

Sometimes it's really frustrating.  You have a significant amount of time tied up in it and then it's just gone.

Topics on graffiti are taboo here anyway and was probably deleted due to the subject matter. ;-)

It's not that your post disappears after you post it.

That's what we are talking about TF.  Threads, and some post within a thread, have been vanishing, after they have been posted.

Oh!!!

Well then thanks for re-railing me MikeSmile, Wink & Grin

Maybe I'm the only one with the problem I just described.

Happens to me a lot.

I'm easy,  I can get back on your page,  although none of this has happened to me here.

Mine is usually taken off my plate before I even post it.

What it boils down to is maybe called the Monitor?
