Steve,

I've tried it a few times over the past two days and am able to enter only the subject heading, but no message text.

I don't know what browser your using, but some have had problems with Fire Fox.

I use Chrome and no problems.

I've just sent a couple PMs with no issues.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for flagging.  Not cool.  I'll use another browser.

Kerry,

Welcome to the current forum software situation. YesConfused  Firefox and PMs has been a known issue since Firefox 67.0 so try using another browser, as others have suggested.  I use Microsoft Edge for writing any PMs and it works just fine.  Internet Explorer may also work.

Right now I cannot view any PMs with my Android tablet.  All I get is an error page. Bang Head  Hopefully the upcoming forum software update with address these issues.  We'll see...

Tom,

When is the forum's software being updated?

I've used Firefox for years, successfully sending PMs until now.  Are you saying that  Firefox 6.7 is the latest version and, thus, the one causing difficulties here?  I just checked, and according to Firefox's website its newest version is 71.0 (yep, not 7.1), released December 3, 2019.

I also just tried accessing the forum's PM function on Chrome and MS Edge, but was unable to even log in.  I continually got an "incorrect information" message when I entered my current MRM forum log-in/e-mail address and PW.  The latter was changed back in April, and the former I've used for years, both with no problems logging in and out until now.

So I went back to the forum on Firefox to try to verify those two pieces of information by logging out.  I couldn't even do that - log out, that is.  Is Firefox 6.7 - or perhaps now 71.0 - that much of a bugaboo?

I just tried it, and encountered the same problem.

I think he is saying that problems started cropping up with version 67 but new problems have been cropping as time goes on and new versions of FF appeared.  Administrators can no longer move threads to different forums and no one can change their avatars.

Kerry,

All I know about the software update is what Steve Otte shared a couple of months ago.  He stated it would be sometime early 2020.

The PM issue using Firefox started with Firefox v.67 and continues with its current version.  From my understanding it's due to Mozilla stopping support of a particular function that allowed text to be entered into the PM text box.

I've never had any issues either logging out/in or entering text into a PM using Edge.  It's just seems to be isolated to Firefox 67 or > and the current forum software.  Other forum issues are not browser-related.

Thanks, Tom.  I wasn't aware of Steve's announcement so will wait to see what transpires in a month or so.

It was more a comment in passing than a general anmouncement.  I'm not sure if there is even a set date for the update.

Here's the thread where Steve made the comment, then he locked it.

I gave up some time ago. I will not use another browser.

I really hope they put SPELL CHECK HERE.

After all, this is 2020. Are your listening Steven? Most of us do refer others to this set of forums.

Too many clueless coming into that first forum. Let them wander. Some cannot be bothered with finding the correct forum.

Same here. I just had a subject thread of mine locked, and I'm having trouble getting a reply.

I think they expect us to use the 'private email', and yet it doesn't even work half the time. Whats wrong with good old regular email that has worked for eons??
