Garry, as others have already said, my sympathy and prayers going out to you and yours on your loss!
Sports car subject... My BiL Bernie had a Daimler SP250 (I think that was the one). He used to say it was 500HP and a seat..... I got to drive it just once when he had blocked my VW bug in the driveway and didn't want to go out and move it so my wife and I could go get some groceries for supper at my MiL's house... All I will say is... WOW!!! Fairly big difference between the Daimler and my old 1960 36hp beetle. LOL He also had an old 4 wheel drive Jeep that he had taken out the little 4 banger flat head 40 hp powerplant and managed to slip a Chevy 283 in the same place.... Cool burning rubber on all 4 tires (in 4 wheel drive) starting up from a stoplight on Main Stret in Canandaigua. I got to drive that from Canandaigua to Rochester for a month when my old VW got tapped from behind and was in being more or less repaired... Went from $3 worth of gas each week for a tank in the Bug to $25 each week to be able to drive the same route with the jeep. Grocery money was slim that month!!!
My BiL also built a Dune Buggey on a VW chassis once. That had a Porsche power plant in it. That one was fun as well.....
Today, I'll stick with my Chevy Volt for another year at least. Off the line that will beat a Maserati. For all of 200', then it's done... LOL Still fun though, but don't tell my insurance company on me.

So far my 4 days off has been pretty good.
1 Got the front yard leaf's muchled for the wife.
2 Helped Dwight get his 2017 Continental going after he was in a nursing home for 6 months.
3 Got the cover on the wifes window A/C unit installed.
4 Did some need cleaning done in my sleeping room.
5 Sent the Mighty PRR I1sa mailed back to BLI.
6 Second day in a row I have walked Dirk a 1/4 mile for his #2. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to. On my days off I want to walk farer, it his and I only real exerciese. In the next week or two I like to get it up to a half mile.

My Judy always puts a smile on my face. She made me drive down to the hood today to Cup Foods. She bought the Art Songs, Shorty and Wags chicken seasoning for everyone she knows for Christmas.
It's a thing of the past and there is no one that serves this chicken anymore but she knows where to get the seasoning.
I got to love my Judy. She's a good lady. Honestly I don't know what everybody was raving about,with this chicken I don't particularly care for it.

I do the same thing, but I didn't learn it until quite a few years into the marriage. It would have saved me a lot of trouble if I had just started doing that as we left church after the wedding.
I've convinced my wife I need her to get some stuff out of the bedroom closet in the layout room. Right now all my tools, parts, etc., are stored under the table. I'm getting tired of hitting my head every time I try to get something. She agreed! I'm not sure what that means. I was expecting a battle.
Only 2½ weeks until Christmas! I love everything about it -- the excitement, the crowded stores, the fireplace, the trees and decorations, the carols, the candlelight church service, and finally the entire family crowding together for several days in our house. To me it's always sad when it ends each year.

Dirk walking took him him for a little longer walk today about 1720 feet so a tad over a quarter mile. He enjoyed the walk and I felt pretty good as well.
New TV. Sharon and Shawn brought it over today and hooked it up for me,Thank God! Seems you need to get a Smart Phone to get it working? My daughter does not understand why I don't want Netflix, HBO, U Tube or Oruku on the TV! If I want to be on line, I am on the computer. If I want to watch Cable TV I am in the house. I don't need to turn on the TV with my tablet. When I want to watch TV I want to be able to turn it on, period.
Guess I am offically a old Curmudgeon. Far as I am concern they should be still making 68 Plymouth Road Runners! I am not getting old, world is getting to young!

cudakenMGB? Yea when I was around 17 I wanted one, then I sat in one. Well sort of. At 6' 3" it did not go well.
Hi Ed,
I never had a problem sitting in my MGB and I am (was?) 6'2". In fact, I could wear my officer's hat (when I was working at the Air Cadet camp at CFB Trenton) in the 'B' with no problem with the top up.
I did have an issue with the air stream messing up my hair when the top was down, but my brother, who also had an MGB, came up with a neat solution. He took the front header bar out of a 'B' soft top and attached a piece of plexiglass about 4" tall to it. When it was clamped in place it increased the height of the windshield by about 5". That put the air stream above the top of our heads so the ride with the top down was much more comfortable. It even worked in the rain, that is until you had to slow down or stop.

You're not the only one. When we visit our kids, they have all gotten rid of cable and now they subscribe to different services. It takes a degree to figure out how to get to any program I may want to watch. I'm officially a grouchy old man.

I went through puberty in the retirement community of Cape Coral, Florida. I developed into a grouchy old man before I was out of my teens.
Not a good day - I woke up with my bck yelling insults at me and it has not stopped doing that. It´s a nagging pain that pushed my mood all the way down south! That makes me a grouchy old man, too - and I am proud of it!
I am also bored! Nothing to do and not in the mood to do anything meaningful. I tried to watch a few videos, but In got bored as well after just a couple of minutes into the video - usually the time I need to figure out who´s the villain and how the story will continue.
I got so bored being bored, I fired up my CAD house designer to design my ultimate bachelor pad (just don´t let Petra know)!
If I were a bachelor, that would be all I´d need! Located somewhere high above, where I can look down on man´s miserable earthly existence!

Ray, a little while ago I saw a car show on TV and a Daimler SP250 was featured. It is for sale in Ontario for only 56k. I have seen those cars on rare occasions so I decided to do a little research. They were built in the early '60s and had a 2.5 litre hemi V8. As the body was fiberglass they only weighed about 2k lbs. so were quite fast for the day, certainly a lot quicker than a MGB. About 9 secs. to 60 which was as good for that era. I think they were the only V8 designed and built in Britain at the time.
Today I finished my book, Speed Graphics and Steam. What a great book. Took me a couple of days to complete as I like to look at the photos carefully and with the narrative really immerse in 'being there' in 1958.
Turned a little cool today, only about 0F right now and headed to -11 or so tonight. I plugged in the car which means the block heater for those not familiar. The car will start without it but it warms up far more quickly and is easier on the engine.
I hope to pick up the engine I bought soon. If I had the room, money, and time I would do a layout that featured mainly passenger operations. I like passenger steam locos far better than the freight ones. Same for diesels. Oh well, I can admire them anyway even if they can only run around the outer loop of my little layout.
We have some smoked salmon and a little prosecco to go with it for a treat today.

Dave it was me that could not fit in the MG, not Ed. Might be the lenght of my Torso, while I don't have short legs they are only 32". I could hardly bend my head to far enough to get in the car. To be honest I do not know what kind of MG it was but it was a convertible.
Day's off. I feel like I got a lot done the last 4 days off for me!
1 Today I took Dwight to breakest today. He is the 92 year old neighbor that lives next door that is a WWII Vet. Never knew that till he was in the nursing home.
2 Mulch some more leaves and the Lawn Mower is offically retired for this year.
3 Snuck some of Sue's Junk out of the garage and will be going into the dumpster at work. Throwing away some of my junk that I don't want as well. I never really wanted to keep it, just had not got around to throwing it away.
Ed two things.
1 I was enjoying are talk, sorry I had to hang up early. My wife freind just kept calling over and over.
2 When Sharon came over to give me the new TV I was running the layout. She came into the garage to let me know she was here. She Loved the sound of the Bessimer SD with Rolling Thunder! First good thing she has ever said about my trains!
Dirk Walk Took him a little Far'er yet today. Walked about 2100 feet to day. I know that is not much. I have to be carful with my feet being Diabetic plus I have no clue to how much exercise Dirk is use to. He seemed to have a good time and nerer barked at the dog's that where barking at him. He's a good boy!
