Model Train Spots in Chattanooga?
Posted by hardcoalcase on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 7:18 PM

I'll be in Chattanooga for a short visit and was wondering if there are any model train stores or clubs one should visit there.

I'm aware of the Chatt Area MRR Club working on the new layout, but from their website, it looks like they're still in the early stages of construction.

Of course, there's the TV RR Museum too, but I won't have time for a train ride.

Otherwise google and yelp weren't much help, so I'm open to suggestions.

There are no model train hobby shops in Chattanooga. The Chattanooga Depot closed its doors a couple of years ago.

.

If you take I-75 South a cross the Georgia border to the first exit, there is Gateway Antiques, and Lindy's Trains has a booth in there. Sometimes they have great treasures, many times you will find nothing.

.

That is all I can offer.

Gateway Antiques, and Lindy's Trains

Kevin, thank you for the tip.  I did a quick check and found that Lindy's Trains closed their booth at Gateway Antiques back in September.  Lindy's does operate at several other Malls in GA, but they are generally located in the Atlanta-Athens corridor - a bit out of reach from Chattanooga.

That is terrible news for me.

.

I think now every Lindy's location will require me to take I-85 out of Atlanta. That is a terrible way to go.

.

Honestly, if you take I-85 North out of Atlanta, Trainmaster in Buford, and Legacy Station are better choices to stop at.

.

Sorry about Chattanooga being a bust. That totally stinks.
