We have moved and my layout needs to be taken down. It was screwed together. The track is screwed down and track bed is covered with ballast except between rails. I assume a rail section will need to be removed and then a saber saw to cut through table.
Can alcohol be used to loosen the glued on ballast? I am in Omaha Nebraska. Anyone close to me?

just water can be used to lossen ballast if white glue was used.
Before you take it apart, go underneath and cut and re-connect every wire with barrier strips so re-assembly will be easier. Labelling will help, too.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Hi, and welcome to the forum!
A thought..........you might be significantly better off if you take the layout totally apart, and build a new one at the new location. Especially if you have more room, this could be a great opportunity to build a "bigger and better" new one.
Taking the old one and cutting in half and reassembling is likely to turn out being a bigger job than you anticipate.
As they say......."trust me"!
