I have been trying to take the trucks off a Bachmann spectrum combine so I can repaint it, I undid the screw and to tried pulling on it and nothing. does anyone has any experience with removing the trucks
Pretty sure they are retained from inside the car. Remove the roof and interior and you will find a linkage to the swivel coupler on the older ones. Mine are curently packed up, otherwise I would take a look.

This was on the HOSeeker website. First page of the instructions says it is for a Spectrum combine. Probab;y not the same as your model as you say you removed the truck screws.
They are indeed undone from inside.

Thanks for the replies everyone I've got them off, for anyone whos wondering how I did it here's how. remove the screw that's "holding" the truck on, there is a bit of plastic that's not flush with the flat metal piece that moves the coupler, don't completely remove the plastic just trim the sides so it will fit throw the hole in the metal piece
So, did you take the roof off, or was all this done externally? Was there a screw that was hiding another screw, or did you end up looking at the end of another screw inserted from the inside?
Yes, you must take off the roof of the car in order to remove the truck.
There is a screw from the top of the truck that can be only accessed through the inside of the car.
PS for my PRR Bachmann coach cars, I removed the trucks and couplers entierly, and added Walthers diecast trucks(more prototypical, and better rolling) and body mounted the swiveling coupler boxes.

What radius are you running them on? I'm running mine on 28 and the over hang isn't great.
I've thought about changing out the couplers for the Kadee "scale" head whiskers that I use as standard on my freight, but it's a one way trip the way it's made. Wondered if you are having any problems with the fixed couplers. I'm not really convinced that the swivel does much, but your first hand experience trumps my guess.
