First few forums at the top
Posted by richg1998 on Monday, July 29, 2019 5:10 PM

I can no longer post a message with Firefox. I can get a message box and get a message box but whn I left click the cursor does not show. no explanation why. Count me clueless. I use the latest W10.

So many clueless first timers.

Any ideas? This is terrible. I guess the forums are up to something atgain. Thanks.

Richard

I don’t think it’s a forum problem, it happened after the Firefox up grade to 68.0.1 the quickie fix for other problems.  Other browsers work OK, it’s just Firefox.

Maybe it's been corrected, posting this with Firefox 68.0.1

Broadway Lion explained it once, but the explanation bounced off me.  Vaguely... it uses a legacy software methodology that is no longer supported in modern software.

I copy the web address of a members' page in the forum, open Chrome and paste that address, then I can send a message.

The title of this thread doesn't address the problem, but posting in the forum and sending private message are two different things.  I can't do it with 68.0.1

The issue with the PMs happened with Firefox 67.0.  You can view PMs using Firefox; you just can't enter text in the text box to reply to them.  It doesn't affect posting or replying to a thread on the forum though.

So...I use MS Edge as a workaround for any PMs.  IE, Chrome, or another browser should also work.

OK. Thanks. I thought I saw something from Lion but it disappeared. You figure the Powers that be would create a Sticky.

I know these forums are free and we can leave at any time.

The upgrade a few years ago seemed to have been a downfall.

I used Fire Fox for years, then last year I started using Chrome, and everything is better, even Photobucket.

I use Chrome, but in order to get my cursor into the text insertion box, I have to hit the [TAB] key. Try that in Firefox. If you can report that it works you'll make a lot of people happy.

LION uses Firefox v.thelatest and finds that him cannot write to the message box either.

I do not know what technology it is trying to use that the rest of the forum is not using. I could not even tab into it.

Some technologies have been depreciated and the bigger browser companies are trying to get rid of them because of security issues. Things like Flash now have to be installed into your browser sewparately.

No joy in the Tab button.  I can get to the subject line ok, but that is as far as it takes me.

Thank you all. I may be just be stuck in a rut using FF.

My stepson, a retired Windows programmer was quite surprised by this issue. He seemed to think it was the forums issue but technology is changing and he has not read the responses.

I guess I will have to try another browser or just let those in the other forums alone if they cannot figure out how to find the proper forum. It is really not difficult. I do like to help others. I have been retired since 2006. and cannot model anymore becase of some hand tremores and eye sight issues.

We need spell check also.
