I have some older IHC passenger cars that I want to upgrade, with interiors. I would like to know if there is any secret to getting the roof off. The sides and floor frame seem to be one piece or glued together. The roof seems to be removable. But before I start prying at it, and possibly damage it, is there any good way to remove the roofs. Thanks
RR_Mel....Pull the roof up and it will slide out of the wall/bottom frame....
Quite similar to the AHM/Rivarossi cars, where the roof and windows were one piece of clear plastic, with the roof area painted, of course. On these cars, the roof/window piece also clipped into the car's floor, and could be released using a screwdriver to unlock the tabs, which protruded through to the underbody...

That's a big help. I see the tabs in the floor. Thanks
I usually start by pushing up on the tabs with a screw driver, then the roof slides out

IHC made interior kits -- I picked up a bunch of SL coach interiors at a hobby shop for $2/apiece. Look for 'em on Ebay (though be warned, sometimes the prices get crazy).

Most of my passenger cars are either Rivarossi or Athearn, and none of them came with interiors. Pike Stuff offers (or offered) blocks of seats, usually in fairly garish colours, that can be used either as-is, or cut into separate seats to match your car's window spacing.
The second car in the pictures I posted earlier shows them, repainted. The walls for the vestibules, aisleways, and partitions are easily done using sheet and strip styrene.I also used the Pike Stuff seats in the smoking lounge of this MDC combine...
...while the other seats are from the old Walthers 3-piece kits.
