Good morning from Sunny and Warm Northeast Ohio!
This is a place were modelers can show completed projects, in process projects or just pictures of their layouts, past and present!
Managed to get a little work done this week.
First is an Athearn ACF 2970CF Covered Hopper Kit, painted with Scalecoat II UP Covered Hopper Gray paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. Cars were purchased to haul Peralite from Magma, AZ to various locations.
Second, I managed to finish a 2nd Rock Island 40' PS1 Boxcar Kit w/8' Door,
substituted A-Line Sill Steps for the plastic ones in the kit and then painted with
Scalecoat II Oxide Red and Black Paints. Car was lettered with a Mask Island Decal set,
did two cars as the sets included enough stuff for two cars. Cars were in dedicated service to a manufacturer along the PRR in Columbus, OH.
Took my New Haven U25B and C-425 to the club last week with some cars from that era to check them out.

Rick ... Your SP covered hopper and RI boxcar are outstanding. The NH locomtives look great.
Below is a photo of my coal mine as it looks now. I have some of the scenery surrounding the mine completed. Progress has been very slow because my time for model railroading has benn very limted lately, and also I am spending time on other parts of the layout.

Rick, thanks for getting the WPF started.
Garry, your setting is teriffic and right up my alley. Below see my 1st step, after years of procrastination, towards finishing scenery by detailing my layout. Fortunately I have a number of scenic materials around, from use on my grandson's layout and getting ready for this one. Step 1A is a trial board to see what the various Woodland Scenics ground foams, A.R.M. & Highball ballasts and yard mixes, plus some local dirt look like atop my base color. I also have various WS bushes & foliage materials on hand.
Next I will experiment a bit on the board, which has a coat of Sculptamold and paint, by ballasting the track and applying chosen materials over some areas. Garry's coal mine area is an inspiration. Garry, if you can expand (a PM perhaps?) on how you applied the materials let me know, please. Any suggestions on how to go about attacking this are welcome.

Paul, Interesting experiment. Is the baseboard sealed the same way as what's under the layout? That could affect how you see things on the test board, especially if water-based.
BigJim, Love those bins and elevator.
They say that seeing is believing, but not sure about this next visitor...It may be related to the uranium mill in Durango, where it was first spotted.

Great looking stuff this week guys. I especially liked the Coca-Cola mine and the UFO. By the way that was a pretty good band way back when with the song Lights out in London and Out in the street.
It's very rare for me to buy a pre-made model at a train show. I'm too fussy, I usually make my own but I found this lumber yard door company model and just couldn't let it go.
I could really appreciate the exceptional work whoever did on this model. I must have really liked it to buy it. It's HO scale and I Model N
It needs a door landing and a top rail up by the incinerator, saw dust blower, whatever it is. I'm not real nuts about the signage but that could be changed out easily enough.
I'll enjoy it for a while, make a few tweaks and then it's going to find a new home

Hello everybody, good work it seems this week
I have basicaly painted my kitbashed ship in N scale, I'm working on the brass mast, but the model is close to be finished, waiting for his mast, weathering and equipage.
On the second hand, I have completely finished two houses of my Fos wharf alley, including full details, wheatering.
On this building of the ice house, I take some liberties in the design by putting a covered stairs and doors and mechanism to open the ice chute; feel it look good.
This week end I hope to have finish all the house of the wharf, only little work remains and cut the basic base of the diorama of the wharf and surroundings.

Thanks Rick for starting off WPF. The freight cars look great as usual. Good looking New Haven locos too.
Garry - I like the coal mine. Great backdrop.
Paul - Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you.
Jim - The grain bins look good.
Mike - I like all of the air(?) craft and the scenery is great.
Trackfiddler - Impulse buys get us all occasionally.
Marc - The ship is looking good. The ice house is a work of art.
I've been working on some changes to the layout to accommodate my new Black River Station model.
I have replaced the old siding switch with a 9-inch piece of track and soldered it into place. It has been tested and we have continuity.
I expanded the platform area around the station structure with some styrene and painted it with Floquil Concrete. Its going to take more work, but I think it will work out after I add a few people figures.
I was tired of looking at the washout yellow on the water tower so I painted it with an acrylic grey to compliment the station structure better.
The station structure and the water tower are in place near where I think they will go.
Here the water tower is moved the the west side of the station. Still a little close thought.
Still a long ways to go, but at least I've gotten off the dime.

BigJim7 .... Yes it is the Walthers Diamond Coal kit. Also, it is a Faller mine head kit and a scratchbuilt structure. I like your corn silos.
Paul .... Thanks for commenting. ... For ground cover, I sprinkle it on with a shaker. Then I apply a mix of water with small amount of dish detergent on the ground cover using a spray bottle. Next, I apply a mix of white glue, water, and a small amount of dish detergent using a dropper. Then, I spray again with water and dish detergent. Wait until it dries ( a day or so)..... I then add more ground cover on top of the first application to make sure it is not too thin. I follow the same process as I did with the first layer. ......... Your layout looks very good .

I'm still working on the resin PRR container car kit. I get awfully frustrated with some of these resin kits since they can be so fragile and I still can't get the hang of cementing parts on so they STAY!
I've washed everything in detergent, used several brands of ACC and epoxy, still some small details pop right off like they were never glued

Hello All! I have been a busy boy this last week. Finished some layout scenes for a local photo contest. These are just a couple pictures from my N Scale Layout. With any luck, they will be selected and published in the contest and maybe finally grab the attention of the folks at Model Railroader... (I only live 15 minutes away from their offices... Hint, Hint. Wink, Wink). Let me know what all you forum members think... I have seen the amazing stuff posted here every week and would love some feedback. Cheers!

It took me about 12 hours to weather this Amtrak F40PH and make it look like it has seen too much time running passenger service, but could still be useful running the MOW consist.

Workers are inspecting this bridge with the help from a small work barge... all while trying to avoid being pooped on from the birds and seagulls or falling in the water to become an easy snack for the shark circling below.

Too busy with summer stuff to get down to the layout lately,but I did get some new photo editing software. One of the add-ons is a program that lets you put movement in your pictures(clouds,water,etc.) Not something I'll use a lot,but fun to mess around with. Here are a couple of quick and dirty efforts(hard to see 'til you click for the large view).
