Hi all!
I got these Bachmann cars on the bay.
I can't stand that plastic fantastic toy look though.
So, I started with removing the heralds from the caboose with paint stripper.
Then I repainted both cars with Scalecoat mineral red paint using a #3 brush.
They will both be marked for my own railroad, and they will be detailed and weathered as I go along.
A few broken parts will be fixed as well.

Looks great.
Other than stripping the heralds off, did you do any other preparation to the surface?

Thanks! No, I just washed it thoroughly.
I lilke the fact you could get the factory lettering off of the big scale cars. That opens the possibility I could make a STRATTON AND GILLETTE big scale car some time.
.
I do need to make a Lionel SGRR car for someone. Does anyone know how hard it is the get the paint off of a newer Lionel freight car.

Living the dream.
Made some progress.
Applied the decals and pre-weathered the underframe.
