Where can I purchase decals for Redball NYC container car and or Ambroid NYC container car. The ones I had disintigrated when I tried to use them even after spraying them with decal save. Thanks for any Info
Does anyone know if you can use Apple Barrel paints in an airbrush and/or how to thin it??

Do you still have enough of the current decals left? There are other methods to save brittle decals.
What brand were the decals you tried to use? Is the manufacturer still in business?

Too late now, but if you have old decals, and it sounds like you did, you may be able to scan them and copy them on decal paper. I have taken to scanning decal sheets as a precaution.

I have 1 set but the lettering is white so unless someone with an Alps printer is available I can't do it. Sarge

Sarge,
Microscale makes a brush-on product called "liquid decal film" that can do miracles.
I used it to save a roughly 40 year old set of custom decals and create a prized one-of-a-kind VIRGINIAN AND OHIO boxcar for my roster.

I know that MicroMark (and probably some others) make decal paper that you can print on with a ink jet printer. You can make your own custom decals from just about any photo, drawing, or typing source.
