Weekend Photo Fun - June 7th through June 9th
Posted by SeeYou190 on Friday, June 7, 2019 5:53 AM

Welcome to Weekend Photo Fun

JUNE 7 - 9,  2019

All Are Welcome!

Here is an opportunity to showcase any recent project, layout progress, or just a great photo of your model trains..

Please feel free to post any model railroad related photos here — past or present. This is a place to share photos of your layout, equipment or current project, completed or in progress.

This week I have an N scale STRATTON AND GILLETTE 40 foot boxcar to share. This car is painted in one of the "Safety Schemes" to promote job safety awareness.

.

This litttle freight car is currently in transit for interchange service on another railroad where I hope it will serve well.

.

The model is by Micro-Trains.

.

.

Please keep pictures of your model trains coming and make Weekend Photo Fun a great thread as it nearly always is.

.

Good morning.  As I have said before,  you sure do beautiful Work Kevin.

I was zooming in and looking at the details.  The decals are placed so straight and centered.  You really have an eye for this sort of thingYes

Good morning from Sunny and Warm Northeast Ohio!

Thanks for starting us out Kevin, nice work on that boxcar.

I managed to finish a couple of cars this wee

First, a Branchline Trains 40' Boxcar Kit, made to replicate the PRR X43C car with Diagonal Panel Roof, R 3/4 Late Ends and an 8' YSD, the rest of the X43's had 7' Doors. This car is a modernized repainted car by the PC with the roofwalk removed, lowered ladders on the non-brakewheel side. Car was painted with Floquil PC Green and lettered with Mask Island Decals. Car used in general service and was equipped with load restraining devices accounting for the XL classification.

Completed another Athearn Genesis ACF 4600CF Covered Hopper Kit, painted with Scalecoat II UP Hopper Gray and lettered with Herald King Decals.  These cars were used by the DT&I on the southern end of the railroad and were ordered as the 4600CF Cars were a Plate B car while the 4650CF Cars were Plate C and the Plate B cars could go on sidings where the Plate C cars could not.

Thanks for looking!

Happy Weekend, Folks

Thanks for starting things off, Kevin. Another fine car for the roster of the SGRR Yes

I enjoy seeing cars from the P-C era, Rick. I kind of miss the ACI labels, a short-lived experiment.

Chinese Red looks good on those SD-24s, Garry!

I finished up a project or two, then jumped right in to another Whistling

I got this little B8b painted and "fired up" for the first time.

 PRR_B8b by Edmund, on Flickr

Then jumped in to a bit larger project for the paint/DCC shop, this B&O T-3t:

 BnO_T3t by Edmund, on Flickr

Vanderbilt tenders sure make installing a decoder a bit of a challenge. There's no easy way to get inside that tank!

 BnO_T3tender by Edmund, on Flickr

There was a discussion a week or so back about the extra long Vanderbilt tenders some of the B&O engines had and I stumbled across this gem on eBay Smile while searching for photos.

 BnO_T3ta by Edmund, on Flickr

In between the bigger projects I put together a simple Accurail kit just to fill in the gaps:

 Big_Four by Edmund, on Flickr

I used some Kadee arch bar trucks to give it a smoother ride.

Great stuff everybody Yes

On to more excellent contributions,

          Ed

Terry- I really like the boxcar.

I have been in a big train rut, and haven't got much anything done on the layout, but yesterday I tried out the panorama feature on my dads new phone to take some photos of my layout

Pardon the mess, please.

Great scenes, cars, and locos.

Kevin,  Thanks for opening the WPF with the nice and uniquely lettered boxcar.

Terry, Oh yeah, I'm likin' your boxcar, are the markings and decoration hand done or decal?  Which reminds me; at desert my late granddad always asked my late mother "Jannie, is the cake scratch or box?" but either way it was always delicious.

Thanks to all the contributors and have a good weekend, regards, Peter

Even though I never miss WPF it has been a while since I contributed. Here is the first of my Rapido Royal Hudsons, I should get #2 next week. Runs like a dream.

Keep up the amazing work guys, it is inspiring.

Thanks Peter, I appreciate it. The markings and decorations were done by hand with acrylic paint. The decorations/markings to the left of the door are thinned acrylic paints, applied about 4-5 thin layers with a 20/0 brush. The scratches and scribbles to the right of the door are thinned acrylics applied with a sharpened toothpick. The markings on the door are acrylic paint, freehanded with a 18/0 brush.

Just trying to get as close as possible to the prototype. This is my first attempt at hand painted markings. I'm happy with the outcome and it gave me a little confidence.

I always admire your scenes and pictures, never disappoints.

First of all thanks for all the nice words regarding my cars!

Gary, love the SD24's, I have always liked those engines, to bad none of my prototype railroads ever owned them.

Ed, nice work on the B8, I have a lot of PRR power but only one switcher a B6, but I have a raft of consolidations. Since you got a T3t showing, I acquired another one of the rebuilds, a Q4d late last year. It has 70" drivers and sort of foreshadowed the T3 class of engines. It also has one of the giant vanderbilt tenders holding 13,000 gal of water.

See you later!

You’re not wrong, George. Though the invention of the microwave oven made reheating those regularly missed dinners easy, no more dry arguments!!!
