Need some scenery help
Posted by JeremyB on Sunday, January 2, 2005 9:01 PM
Hey guys

I have a question about scenery. I have Lou sassi's book basic scenery for model railroads and saw his chapter on "Ground Goop" and was wondering what is celluclay is it just a papier mache mix, and what is perma-scene because I cant find it anywhere, Is there something I can use insted of perma-scene.

Thanks
Jeremy

I don't have the book, but I believe that perma-scene is a type of modeling plaster, like Sculpt-a-Mold or the Mold-a-Scene plaster sold by Woodland Scenics. As to the other stuff, I don't know.

I've never worked with either my thing has always been the tried and true hydrocal and more recently pink foam insulation carved and covered with your favorite brand of ground foam. The insulboard makes tree planting and building planting much easier also less mess than any plasters just vacume and go just remember to use acrylic paint or the foam will react poorly! learned this by error and trial[banghead] [sigh][:D] There is no right way to scenery it can be frustrating but in the end it's fun and worth it.
