Current Firefox version and PMs glitch
Posted by tstage on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 8:48 PM

Anyone else using Firefox 67.0 having issues with creating or responding to PMs?

I can view the text box but I can't enter any text.  And it works just fine using MS Edge as a browser.  And, obviously, it doesn't affect posting on the forum.

I'm sure Mozilla will eventually post an update and the issue will go away.  It's just mildly annoying...

I've had that issue using Fire Fox.  Now I use Chrome.  Every once in a while I'll log in with FF,  but Chrome has me spoiled.

I think the issue with not knowing when you have a PM is the same with all browsers, from my experience,  as that never worked in FF and it doesn't work with Chrome, or IE.

My Firefox hasn't yet been updated, so I'm using version 66.0.5 on my Mac, and have had no difficulties regarding creating or receiving PMs, nor any problems getting notifications of PMs, either.

I haven't had the notification thing, when the mail thingy changes color, for a long time.  No matter what browser I use.

I just make sure I check it a couple of times a day.

Mike,

The color change of "Message" on the main forum page hasn't worked for years for me.  However, it is viewable from other pages.  Nevertheless, I check it whenever I get on the forum.

Yep, it's definitely Firefox.  Just used 66.0.5 on my laptop - no issue.  As soon as I updated it to 67.0, I could no longer enter any text in the PM text box. Sad

Yeah, it's not working with FF 67.0.

Sad

I tried it last night, too.  Nope.  One thing I don't remmeber from the older version of FF, is the seperate box that opens. ?

As I mentioned earlier, I'm getting real used to Chrome.  Everything, including this site, videos, and even Photobucket work much better.

I personally use only Chrome, no matter what device I am on. It is the most widely used and therefore benefits from the best updates. I haven’t used Fire Fox in about 5 years as my primary browser. Chrome also works nicely with my google account. I highly recommend you switch to chrome.

Many protocol that were formerly used have been depreciated for security reasons. I do not expect Firefox to bring them back, although you may get a plugin to make them work.

It is up to the website operators to update their products so that they no longer make use of the depreciated protocols.

More than this I do not know, beyond my pay grade you know

Had an iOS update today. Did not fix the problem with the PMs, though.
