GMT: Yeah, A Head Rings Out is far more well known and a good LP, but I still like Getting to This. Whatever floats your boat. It's all good. Moby Grape was also a good album. The only song I remember from it is Omaha. Skip Spence was the original drummer for Jefferson Airplane, but left and switched to guitar with Moby Grape.
Over the weekend, we went to a friend's daughter's high school graduation. Very interesting. It was a far cry from when I went to high school. The most notable thing to me was all the decorations on their mortar boards. Some had which university they were going to attend next fall. Some had witty sayings, etc. Another thing was all the honors regalia. There were cords, stoles, and medals for you name it. I saw a couple of kids with serapes for stoles.

I am not a person that panic easily but felt like I was having a panic attack most of the day. Some kind animal or animal's are in the attic and is very noisy. My wife called me at work and sweared it or them where in the house! Darn near closed the store to fight off the inavders! Did stay till closing and got a $2900 sale. Got home and there where no intruders.
While my wife is nuts there are some animal's up there. Just not sure what to do.

Good Morning All,
Another rainy day. I am glad we held the trucks back from prestaging at the track though. The field they use is usually a quagmire after a few days rain and we've had lots and lots the last few weeks. Registration opens at 8am and load in begins at 9am so we are in good shape since we don't go on track until 9am Friday.
Ken - I'm really proud you're hanging in there. Some of us know how tough it is to quit. I am not sure what you can do to deter those critters especially with the soffits opened up. I've never found a good way to totally stop racoons or squirrels if they have a way in. The only deterence on the farm was the CFO and her Marlin22 cal.
Tried moulding a frog in place on the shorted track last night. I had to cut the whole thing out in the first place because the rails behind the frog were dead shorted. Not sure how it will work out with the mould but we shall see. I used epoxy but it seems hard to get the right consistency to avoid running all over and still get a good piece poured without voids. If this doesn't do I ,may have to just cut the whole turnout up and replace it. At the price they get for PECO turnouts these days, I don't want to scrap it.
9 to 5 is a distant memory for me as it probably is for anyone who had their own business. On the other hand, I'm still enjoying what I do and I'm not ready to retire. Retirement of course is when you are still just as busy but it is everyone elses stuff and you don't get paid for it. As in "Hey you're retired right? Can you pop over and give me a hand with......... Not to mention the ever expanding Honeydo lists. Nope, for many of us, gainful employment is easier even with the hours.

My targetted retirement date according to the company computer for such nonsense is July 3rd, 2035. That seems like forever away. I hope to retire about ten years prior to that date.
We will see how that goes.

Good morning, everyone. It's a beautiful, cool, clear morning here, but more storms are expected later today. Hopefully no more tornados (tornadoes?).
You guys have made me nervous about my attic. I went out yesterday and closely checked every inch of soffit. So far, so good. We have dozens of squirrels in our yard because of all my wife's bird feeders.
This reminds me of when I was a kid, our pastor had gotten tired of all the pigeons on the church, making huge messes on the entryways and cars. He tried solving the issue one day with his .22, but the police saw him and he got a ticket for discharging a firearm in city limits. Everyone had a laugh, but the pigeons stayed for years.
Finally finished the gas station. I'm taking the advice several of you gave me to get several layout projects going at once, so when I get tired of one thing, I don't just quit everything for a while. Using a computer printer also worked well on the gas station signs -- I had a terrible time trying to make N Scale gas station details look good.
Last night, I read that UP's Big Boy will probably be in Omaha for the Railroad Days festival, July 13-14. That means it will pass about 45 miles from me gettting from Cheyenne to Omaha. Can't wait to see it. If you are near Omaha, that festival is worth the time. UP's old art deco Union Station is completely restored, and there are shuttles from there to the UP museum in Council Bluffs, and to a large garden train display at the botanical gardens. I know, I know, it's all about those yeller things, but it's still worth seeing!

I just turned 51 earlier this year. 67.5 is my targetted retirement age, but I am 99% sure I can get done by 62.5, and 50% sure that retirement at 55 is possible.
I am on a good track to make that happen.

My wife and I were just talking about this yesterday going to see grandkids. It's amazing how fast everything went. It seems like last week I was loading three little girls into my pickup to go to school. This week, they all have their own children.
Becarefull John, I went to bed one night, I think it was sometime in June? and I woke up the next morning 70 yrs old!

All I wanted for dinner tonight was macaroni and cheese. I only had a little trailer cheese left. I added Philadelphia cream cheese and some shredded mix Mexican cheese. It worked.
I added Judy's hundred percent beef wieners to make polka dot macaroni and cheese.
It was one of the better macaroni and cheeses, sometimes soft food is the best

We rent a cottage for a week every summer and one of our favourite vacation meals is mac and cheese with weiners. We add lots of extra cheese too! My wife loves to add peas. I don't mind but our son, who often shares the cottage with us, hates them!

Over all pretty uneventful day thank goodness. No panic attacks and farily quite in the attic. Found a U-Tube video of coyote's sounds that is a hour long. That seemed to help!
Bought a good flashlight from Haubor Freight This sucker is bright, think it is around 580 lumas. I will be heading up to the attic to see what the heck is up there Friday or Saturday.

Yes, kudos to Ken. Stay with it! There's light at the end of the tunnel, and you can do it.
Mac n cheese with hot dogs. An absolute cholesterol rush, but boy are they good!
Before I stopped eating wheat, I would take the dogs, slice them into quarter inch thick little discs, and put them on the griddle until they just started to get a hint of black (like on a grill). Then join them in the Mac n cheese and viola! (I know, it's "Voila." Go with it). I've made it a couple of times using corn based macaroni, but it just isn't the same.

Track Fiddler, I hadn't had Mac 'n Cheese for years. Then we babysat some grandkids for a week, and they wanted it every day. I think that's the only thing the one-year-old would eat.
We had thunder all night with light rain. It stopped long enough this morning for me to walk. Lots of area farms will not be growing corn this year if they don't get planted soon. Fields are muddy.
The trail I use is an abandoned rail line, but it is paved and about 10 feet wide. Very nice. The paving means no mud and no unevenness to trip old people like me. The town does a good job of keeping it up, and it goes through woods, so there are a lot of birds to be seen.

I brought up neighborhood bar and grilles in another thread, and I got to wondering, does anyone want to share their favorites?
The BEST local neighborhood bar and grille I have ever found is in Fort Madison, Iowa. It is called Cabaret, and is on the corner of 14th Street and Avenue G. I first visited there 25 years ago, and it has not changed at all since then.
There is good reason for you to pass through Fort Madison, Iowa on your travels. Santa Fe 4-8-4 number 2913 is on public display, and the Santa Fe shops are in town. Lots of stuff to see. Not a full day, but worth a drive out of the way to get to. Then you can enjoy those unbeleivably good tacos at Cabaret.

Been a while. Was busy on call last week, Mrs MLC had arm surgery this past Wed, that all went well.
Been fighting the new phone system at w*rk , the contractors that did some cross connecting to the new voice gateways ( analog to VOIP converter). flip flopped some patient room phones. So if you called room 344 it rang in 345. Somehow i got tasked with phones this week.
