Las Vegas Area Club?
Posted by cchristianmcguire on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 12:48 AM

I just moved to the Las Vegas area, and have been searching the internet in search of a club in the metro.  Unfortunately, my searches have been fruitless.  Does anyone know of a club in the Las Vegas area, preferably one that holds operating sessions?  HO is preferred, but N scale would work as well.  Thanks!

When your doing your search, look for links to other forums, as well, and follow the links to read what they are saying.

I just Googled model railroad clubs in Las Vegas and got a few leads to follow, also in model train clubs in Las Vegas.

Look for hobby shops, go to them and ask.

Just some suggestions.

Welcome to the forums.

Go to the light gray lettering at the top right of this page and find Rescources.  Under that you will find Model Railroad Groups listed.

It is by no means a complete list, but ideas.

Also, check in the same Rescources column for Coming Events.  It may list shows in your area which are run by clubs.  Go to the shows web site and it may list a contact person.

As abpve check a local hobby shop.  They may not be able to give you names due to confidentially stuff, but you can leave your name and permission to pass it along to club members.

Good luck,

Richard

First, check out the Nevada Southern Railway. They used to have train shows on 1 or 2 Saturdays of the month, not sure anymore, but the people at the museum might know more. Also, there is a club in the Sun City/Del Webb community. But it was a retirement community and access might be restricted.

2 hobby shops you want to check for club information is the Train Exchange on Boulder Highway and Westside Trains on S. Durango

There might be others, I'm just not aware of them.

Oh, I just want to make sure you're referring to Las Vegas Nevada and not Las Vegas New Mexico?

There was an N scale club in Lost Wages when I lived in Caliente. There were also a few guys trying to get an HO Free-Mo club going. here were two guys named Peter that had really good starts on their modules. Las Vegas Free-Mo on Facebook. There was also a group of guys in St. George, UT (Color Country Model Railroad Club) that had a show and a weekend of Open Houses on a bunch of their home layouts. The layout tour is in November, I think, and the show was some time in the Spring. It is about a 2 hour drive from Lost Wages to St. George.
