Small Layout Photo Fun!

Anyone have photos of small layouts, share them here! I consider a small layout anything under 150 sqr. ft. Here is my small layout.

Here are three views of my 4 X 10 foot, Black River Valley model railroad.

About two thirds of the center,

There is obviously some overlap and omissions here, but you should get the general Idea. Keep the small layouts coming guys. I need some more ideas.

OK, here's mine.  It's about 52 sq.ft. , about 40' of continuous mainline run, about 12' of that is hidden under the city and mill scenes.

A left to right tour.

Some of the forground stuff has changed, and some more details added, but that's it.

Wow, until I saw this topic I didn’t realize that in my entire 68 year model railroading career I have never taken a picture of any of my layouts that showed all of them.  I have been making CAD drawings of my current layout since I started it back in 1988, I have all kinds of full layout drawings but no pictures.

 

My layout is about 120 sq. ft.  All of my layouts have been small, we’ve never lived in a house large enough to have a large layout room.  My current layout is in the garage.

 

This is a CAD drawing of what I have today.

 

 

This is the only picture that I have that comes close to full layout.

 

 

This picture is dated 2014 after finishing a mod to my tower module.

 

I can’t take a picture of my layout today as it would be very embarrassing.  I haven’t been able to work on it in months because of health problems.  During the holidays it became a storage place and needs several days of cleaning before I could take a picture.

 

 

Thanks for posting this topic.  When I’m able I will take some full layout pictures, can’t believe that in 68 years I never took a full layout picture.

Hey Mel

Holy cow! Is that an uncompressed, modeled-to-scale guyed radio/television transmission tower? I love it!

My layout has three tall chimney smokestacks: one modeled from a 22" tapered table leg, one from a 28" little league baseball bat, and one from a 33" pool cue.

That’s a Mel scratch build.  I soldered N scale brass ladder stock to form a triangle and stacked them to make a 130’ HO to scale tower.  That’s the only picture Ive taken that has almost my entire layout in the background.

 

I climbed many towers in my 49 year and 10 month Communications career so I had to have one on my layout.  It now has a realistic breathing effect beacon on the top driven with an Arduino Nano.

Fantastic photos!  I swear that some small layouts appear more realistic than the larger ones!  Keep up the great work everyone!  My layout is above the requirements for this thread.

Great pictures guys. Below is a picture of my previous (unfinished) layout (4X6, based on a Bob Hayden design). I had to take it down because my son was taking the room to have his own bedroom. I am currently working on a new layout but it is not advanced enough to show yet...
