So I was driving past the hotels that I work at and saw this in the turning lane.
I might try my hand and building something close then putting it on a flat car perhaps.

If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough!
Easy to do.....just don't put the flat bed on......make it a tractor and bash a drop deck trailer/low boy:
Truck is a Alloy Forms Pewter kit......boom is also a pewter/brass kit by another Mfg'er. Which is Custom Finishing Models #7060 National boom truck body. You will find under Maintenance Equip.

They service rotary kilns, used in cement plants.
Frank's idea is right on, as usual with anything trucks.

It looks like I can get a lot of the stuff off Shapeways, they've got cabs, chassis, bodies, and some cranes, but I haven't seen any like the one on your truck Frank, what's the Manufacturer?
Steven,
Read the second paragraph in My post and click on the link. Then click on Maintenance equip. It will give You a PDF format, then scroll down to the model. You can't get a link to the model alone. The kit is not an easy build for the un-experienced modeler and still have it work! It is a Pewter and brass kit requiring, fine needle files, drill bits and use of CA, a lot of patience.
Here's the PDF for the catalog. Give it time to load. It's a large PDF and You'll find the Boom body kit on page 18.......the price is 34.95 if you want to know:
