Side Glow Fiber Optic Cable

Has anyone tried side glow fiber optic cable for lighting.  I was thinking that a single 3mm side glow fiber down the center of my passenger cars might work and be a lot easier to install than multiple LEDs.

the light from it in small sizes is at a low level , EL wire emits more light .

ps the EL wire is higher priced because it uses a seperate driver.
