I'm sure this has been a topic before, but I have little knowledge about shell removal. I recently purchased an Atlas Master Series Silver Alco S2 locomotive. I know each locomotive is different, but I've not been able to find any info on how to remove the shell of an Atlas Silver Alco S2. My goal is to install an ESU LokSound decoder and speaker. I've removed the 2 couplers and 3 tiny screws from the underside of the loco, near the trucks, but the shell will not budge. I certainly don't want to break anything on this beautiful loco, so...help!!
Later that day... I finally figured it out and didn't break anything! Now on to the dcc install...

The Atlas website has the instructions how to do it. Try this link: https://shop.atlasrr.com/t-holocoshell.aspx .

Thanks! I finally found it after some searching on the Atlas website. Not an easy site to navigate, by the way...
Glad you found it. Let us know how your installation goes-with some pics if you can.
Were you able to get the shell off yet?
Yes, I was able to remove it without breaking anything! I've installed the LokSound Select Micro using the 8-pin connector. My only issue is where to place the sugar cube speaker and enclosure. The area where the speaker is on the Gold Series won't work. I may have to place it in the cab as I think the enclosure is too deep to put under the front hood. By the way, removing those 3 tiny screws on the underside near the trucks was a big mistake. It turns out they hold the trucks to the frame! It took me an hour to get them all lined up and screwed back in! I'll never do THAT again...
Any thoughts?
NealRAny thoughts?
Streamlined Backshop has a cab roof sugar cube enclosure. With the high arc of the Alco cab that might work?
