As the subject line I'm new here and I have a question.
I've had "electric trains" on and off since I was a little kiddie. Now that I've passed 70, I've started collecting again. My recent purchase was a brass Alco Models, Alco RS-2. It was said to be a late 70's product. The bottom of the trucks say "KMT Japan".
Finally my question: Is there any source for documentation for this locomotive? I can't seem to find anything at all. I'd like to partially disassemble the beastie to see what condition the internals are in.
The RS-2 has always my favorite. The sound, the belching smoke and mostly because when I was 11 or 12, I got to drive one. Well... just letting it idle about a mile and back on a deserted siding with a real engineer hovering over my shoulder. Wow! For the better part of an hour, I felt like a God! :-)

There's an Alco Models catalog at HOSeeker.com. It says you have a model D-132. And not much else.
"The Brown Book" says there were 1000 built in 1972, and 200 built in 1977-78 by KMT. Samhongsa built 200 in 1983.
My first brass engines (Tenshodo) came with exploded diagrams. Yours might have, but I doubt it.
I haven't taken that one apart. Generally, with brass diesels there's screws showing in the "floor". Sometimes partially hidden by the trucks. There's also usually two screws closely spaced (1" or so) in the center that hold the motor. Of course, remove the coupler boxes first, if there are any. I suppose it's possible that it's the coupler boxes holding it together, at least at the first level.

PS: Based on your personal history, it looks like you should also add sound, at some point. I've got some Atlas S-2 switchers with Loksound, and it's absolutely great!

The bad news: Probably not.
The good news: You don't need it.
The great thing about brass locmotives is that they are pretty easy to get apart, clean, lubricate, and put back together. I do not have any documentation for any of mine, other than the terrible instructions they all came with for mounting a Kadee #4 coupler in an insulated box. No need for those anymore!
You don't need to disassemble it very far for lubriucation and cleaning.
