I am overwhelmed by the number of posts here in Jeffrey´s Trackside Diner, only shortly after it was opened in its new location! When facilitating the move I forgot to mention where we are for the month. I thought Louisiana would be a nice place - to be more specific, it´s New Orleans. A tour bus will take us to Leesville, so we can pay our respect to Jeffrey. I still can´t imagine this place without his contributions.

YGW - you asked what I need to get started on my layout. Actually, very little. I have nearly all the track I need, it´s just a few curved sections, a few lengths of flex track and two Peco switches, not to forget cork roadbed. What I need the most is a kick in my backside to buy the lumber I need for the benchwork and time in my friend´s workshop to make it. I had to dismiss any idea of a quick & clean way of building a lightweight and cheap benchwork. Styrofoam won´t work, because it will not allow to attach the catenary poles securely to it. I will try to have the benchwork up within this month.

Progress on this layout will be slow - dead slow, but that´s fine with me. Although only the visible part will be equipped with catenary, that stuff is really expensive and it will take me a couple of years to save up the required funds. My monthly budget is to the tune of $ 10 and that won´t reach far, considering European prices. Rome wasn´t build in one day - my layout won´t, either.

Have a happy January 1st, 2015!
