It's that time again, Weekend photo fun. For first time posters, Weekend photo fun is a weekly thread where we post what we have been working on project wise. Well here's my project. My Model railroad club has modules, and they were starting to show their age. So several years ago, we sold a few of the "road worn" modules to a club member, and built new ones. Well, they never exactly turned out perfect, like the ground foam we used had yellowed. The older ones were starting to show wear and tear as well. So, we decided to do some rehab on all 10 of them. Well, here's my contribution to the modules. If you look closely, you can see the original ground foam.
There is still a lot more work to do, but, it is progress at the very least.
So, lets' see everyone else's projects
(My Model Railroad, My Rules)
These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway. As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
Thanks for starting the new Weekend Photo Fun Jimmy.

The module project looks interesting. Please keep more updates coming. It is good to see a club making improvements in their portable layout.
I am working from home this week so I was able to finish something a little more involved and delicate. This is a covered hopper for the CENTRAL ALBERTA.
I started with a Funaro & Camerlengo resin carbon black covered hopper kit. I replaced the round hatches with square ones for a PENNSYLVANIA H30 covered hopper. This was done to backdate the model a little. I also scratch built the hopper dump doors on the bottom. The round parts are made from Warhammer Dwarf Shields!
Lets see it all this week! I hope everyone participates.

Living the dream.
I've always wanted to do one of the Funaro kits, but the fact it is resin kind of has had me shy away from it. But they look great!
I'll have another update on the modules for next week, we decided to meet a second night a week to get them ready for August.
Jimmy_BraumI've always wanted to do one of the Funaro kits, but the fact it is resin kind of has had me shy away from it.
I have done a few HOn30 Funaro resin kits, and they are not that difficult. If you can do somewhat advanced plastic kits, you can do resin. Start with a boxcar, they are the easiest.

Jimmy .... Thanks for starting weekend photo fun ... It is a good idea for the club to rework the modules. Your contribution looks good.
Kevin .... Your hopper looks great.
I'm pleased with my two Atheran Genesis GP7's with sound. ... I have been operating them as single units for switching and for local freight trains. .... Below is 251 switching in the City of Heartland and 210 with a local train in Prarie View.

GARRY,
Really nce light in the pic of #251 picking up the URTX reefer.
Good work on display in general. I managed to get some large scale work done depsite the heat and 3 boil orders this week (water co. is digging on our system). But I did get the mill pretty much finished and lit.
Here it is at night after I got most of the light leaks to the rear fixed.

My journey into my early days of being a model railroader continues as some scenic work has begun on my "terrific table top testimonial to tinplate toy trains" named "Talheim".
Essentially, this means a large tree has been planted!
Happy times!

Good morning all, late check in as I got a flat on the way to work this morning, had to call roadside assistance as the lug nuts were so tight I could not get enough leverage with a 6" long lug wrench to loosen them.
Jimmy, thanks for starting us out, our club is also refreshing the scenery on the layout due to the forced wall repair last year, good work so far.
Kevin, nice kit, I have a F&C Covered Hoppper kit that I need to kitbash into the NKP version with a few changes to the sides and ends. Thank you for the inspiration.
Garry, those new Athearn GP's are great I have the NKP and PRR versions, yours look good on your layout.
Mike M: Very nice mill building, some day I too will be doing buildings.
Ulrich, andy scenery is good scenery!
I few things I got done the past couple of weeks!
Still working on the PC G47 Gon, here is one of the end ladders complete with the unbent ladder sitting on the workbench, it is the next one to be bent (5 bends) and then installed.
Doing some more of the Canadian Wheat Board Covered Hoppers, here is the IMRC kit with the roof hatches and the roof walk supports in place.
Completed car with Plano Roofwalk and Walk Over Platforms installed, painted with a mixture of Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and Reefer Yellow and then lettered with Herald King Decals. As I noted in a previous post these were purchased by the Canadian Wheat Board and assigned to the CP or CN for maintenance as noted by the CPWX or CNWX reporting marks.
Top view of the car showing the see through effects of the Plano Roofwalk, make for a much more believable model.
Finally, the fourth MDC - FMC 4700CF Covered Hopper I am doing for the club layout, painted with a mixture of Floquil Conrail and Big Sky Blues and lettered with Islington Station Products decals.
Thanks for looking!

Allan, that E7 is a beauty. Haven't seen that NYC paint scheme before, just the zigzag. What is the manufacturer please?
Jimmy, Thanks for getting the WPF rolling.
My log bunks needed some loads, so acquired some nice logs from an eBay vendor.
Thanks to all the contributors and have a great weekend, regards, Peter
HO-VeloMy log bunks needed some loads, so acquired some nice logs from an eBay vendor.
Peter: Those are great looking logs. Did they come painted, or did you finish them? What material are they made of?
Can you provide the seller name or description if he has more available?
Finally... Are those Details West log bunkers you used on the flat car model?
Thanks!
SeeYou190Did they come painted, or did you finish them? What material are they made of?
Kevin, Thanks. They don't appear to have any artificial weathering and for the most part the work of Ma Nature.
ebay search: HO Scale "Saw Logs or Log Loads" The vendor will do cut to order as I needed longer logs.
Yes, Details West log bunks, the taller ones, LB#171 if I'm not mistaken.
Regards, Peter
Yesterday I finished a small project for Boothbay Railway Village. we have a pair of Atlas GP-38s; one was un-numbered and the other was a duplicate number. I renumbered them, gave them some weathering and reprogrammed the decoders. Shown here on my layuot
Mr. Mikado,
The E-7 is an older Proto2000, part of a pair that I picked up at a train show in November of 2017. It was originally in Burlington silver/red livery. I stripped and painted it in NYC Grey and applied Micro Scale decals. I also installed a Soundtraxx DSD-101LC decoder and speaker.
Here is a link to a brief description of how/what I did to the E-7s:

If anyone is interested.
Mike L ... Thanks for commenting on my GP7 photos. Your outdoor RR looks great.
Bear .... LOL ... Not a BBQ ... nor the grill of your dreams ...
Ulrich .... "Talheim" looks nice. It looks like fun times with old Marklin.
Rick ... Thanks for your comments about my GP7's. ... I think Genesis has made the best HO GP7's so far. ... Your detail work on freight cars looks tedius. Very nice results !
Allan .... I remember you posted your work on the the E7's. Your photo looks outstanding.... Thanks for remarking on my photos.
Peter ... I like your log bunks.
George ... The BAR GP38's look great.
Thank you to everyone that posted kind comments about my freelanced conversion of the covered hopper.
There were some impressive projects displayed this week. I appreciate everyone that contributes to my favorite thread.
Until next week...
I'm currently uploading 49 pictures from the op session at the MSMRC yesterday, I'll post a link in the Jeffreys Diner thread, it might be a while it's going really slow!

Heartland Division CB&QNot a BBQ ... nor the grill of your dreams .
Yesterday my N scale PRR Juniata Division left my basement for the last time. I sold it to a good friend who's also a Pennsy fan and he's taking it to California.
In the meantime I'm constructing a 12' x 14' HOn3 model of the Rio Grande Southern's First District.
The lower elevation on the peninsula is for RGS Bridge 45A, the largest of the Ophir Loop trestles.
I plan to install photo backdrops from LARC Products.
Bridge 57B (the lower Gallagher trestle) will go under this tangent track:
Modeling the Rio Grande Southern First District circa 1938-1946 in HOn3.
Great stuff this weekend, Folks! Thanks for getting things started, Jimmy.
One of the projects that has been on my to-do list for a long time has been the "depot" that will house my G Scale garden railroad equipment.
I finally got some headway with the final painting and trim work.
