Models I Would Like To See
Posted by TrainFreak409 on Friday, December 24, 2004 9:28 PM
Okay, the question "Models You Would Like To See" has been asked over and over and over. Well, take a gander at these locomotives that I would like to see produced in either N or HO.

<ABOVE> The Belgian Franco-Crosti, number 2096, with a wheel arrangement of 0-6-2 + 2-4-2-4-2 + 2-6-0.

<ABOVE> Same locomotive, different angle.

AND

<ABOVE> The German Franco-Crosti 0-6-2 + 2-6-2.

I would love to see models of these locomotives, they are just what I like, oddities. These would be right at home on the railroad of my dreams!

I took these photos off of this website:
http://www.dself.dsl.pipex.com/MUSEUM/LOCOLOCO/francocrosti/francocrosti.htm#b
These are actual locomotives, no fakes here. There is an even cooler one on the site, that was proposed, but never built. It was a Franco-Crosti 2-4-4-2 + 2-8-8-2 + 2-4-4-2 Hexaplex! What a locomotive that would have been!

I'd just like to see my BLI 'J'. :-) And a P2K VGN 2-10-10-2. An exquisite Jawn Henry for under $200. And a 4-8-0 would be nice as well.
What could have happened.... did.

Any thing ERIE. There are locomotives and rolling stock produced in ERIE markings but I have yet to find a caboose for that railroad. You manufacturers that produce ERIE locos, could we have an ERIE caboose also, even a generic caboose with ERIE markings would tickle me!!!! HO scale please!

How about 'modular' body shells of every major type/mfgr of steam locos ever produced, similar to what Highliners once did with their 'F' unit shells. Perhaps a steam loco counterpart to Rail Power Products and Cannon&Co.'s diesel parts? Of course, somebody would also need to manufacture the various chassis to fit these onto...

Eriediamond, my LHS just received an exquisite HO model of an Erie bay window caboose. I think it is by Athearn, but don't hold me to that. It's new. Check it out!

Well, I never actually meant for this thread to become that question again, it was my ultimate answer to the age old question. Nobody ever wants to see monstrosities like Franco-Crostis or anything like that, except a few minor individuals (ME![:D]). But, if everyone wants to, go ahead a post what you all want to see. It changes almost every time, with differing ideas, differing interests, actual models being produced, and so on.

Thanks tpatrick, I'll check it out for sure. I have found cabooses for the Erie-Lackawanna, after they merged but none for Erie before that merger. Ken

Alco HH660's, Alco centercab C-415, Good running Baldwin sharks, including the PRR super shark. And how about proper lighting including Mars lights, and not the cheepo LifeLike circuit they use in thier cab units, I mean like the Richmond Controls circuits where the intensity of the bulb is controled and not cheap twin filiment bulb circuit. you will swear the R.C. circuit is actualy a Mars light.

I like juxtaposition. Give me a good plastic SP AC-9 (2-8-8-4, oil tender please) and a 4 wheel bobber caboose that doesn't need surgery to look good.

I'd also love to see a good price on a large (>24) multipack of 26' ore cars. Same goes for reefers. I'm a sucker for long unit trains of ore or PFE cars.

That Walthers Modern Turntable (the big one..not the 90' nightmare) would be great, if it ever moves beyond the one they show off to the dealers.

I'd like to see a couple U-Boat models the CB&Q had. I'm sure they'll show up in the next few years. Heck, when I got back into this hobby over a dozen years ago, and decided to model the 'Q, you couldn't even buy a Burlington switcher or E-Unit. Now I've got something like five or six switchers (different models) and several E7's and 8/9's. Would like to see a Burlington E5 A & B unit though...in plastic.

I'd like to see modern commercial door and window castings, including styles like horizontally sliding doors and revolving doors. It's really hard to build these doors from styrene strip.

Another thing I'd like to see would be models of Toyota and Honda cars and SUVs.

I'd like to see freestanding signs for familiar companies like Walgreen Drug and Ace Hardware.

I'd like to see building kits for churches that aren't Roman Catholic (there are some subtle differences between Roman Catholic church design and Protestant church design); also a synagogue and a mosque.

As far as equipment goes, I'd like somebody to make everything the North Shore Line ever ran - in HO plastic.
