(I don't think this has been mentioned on the forum yet.)
If you model the CNR in the transition era, then you probably know about Stafford Swain. Stafford, of Winnipeg, MB, died April 11 after a long illness.
Stafford had over 80 articles published in the model railroad press, helped found the CN SIG, was president of the Winnipeg Model Railroad Club and the Thousand Lakes Region of the NMRA, and was convention director for the 1983 NMRA convention in Winnipeg. He was MMR #98.
He was a great modeler, an expert in all things CNR in the transition era, and always available to share his knowledge with others. I was privileged to call him a friend.
Read more about him, his layout, and tributes to his contribution to the hobby here: http://cprailmmsub.blogspot.ca/2015/12/stafford-swains-cnr-whiteshell.html

Thanks for posting that sad information.
I saw Stafford's layout just before he took it down and it was truly amazing.
He will be missed.

John,
Sorry for the loss of your friend. The hobby has been blessed by a number of people who all of us have benefited from over the years and are now passing or retiring due to age or illness. We who enjoy the hobby and what they have shared with us owe them their due appreciation. Thanks for sharing.
