HO RTR GP38 Athearn question
Posted by traindaddy1 on Saturday, March 17, 2018 1:30 PM

Saw an HO RTR Athearn GP28-2 New York & Atlantic / Flag #271 Loco 79986

Green with a flag painted on its side.

Tried but unable to find information about this particular engine.

If you know something about it, would appreciate it.

As always, many thanks.

What information are you looking for that wasn't answered in your post?

The early versions don't have DCC, but the newer ones do.

Mike: Guess I had another "Senior Moment". I am getting a lot more nowadays. Anyway, I looked up the 2012 post and it is all there. You were so kind to remind me. Thanks, so much.

New York and Atlantic provides freight service over the trackage of the Long Island R.R.  The 271 is one of a group of former LIRR GP-38-2s transferred to the NY&A for this service.

Don't worry, Traindaddy, I do the same. Laugh

I actually Googled the locomotive you asked about, and in that search, your 2012 post showed up.

It even has a reply from a departed friend of the forums, Jeffrey.

Have you bought it yet?

Mike.

Mike: It is in the house. HO is beyond my present physical capabilities (Thank goodness for O gauge) It's going to my grandson. Thanks, again.
