Standard Hobby Supply,BLI

After looking at the sale flyer I recievied last week I finally broke down yesterday and ordered a M1A and M1b.After paying for these items I normally asked about the shipping.I was a little horrified when the lady on the phone told me it would take ten to twelve days just to get the items ready for shipment, then how ever long for ups to deliever. She said this was an estimation and could not tell me exactly how long the whole thing would take before delievery. Has anyone out there bought from them during this sale and how was the shipping Were you happy with their service or did they send your Bli to you on the old slow boat from china.

I have not done business with Standard for some time but ordering at the busiest time of the year,
early Christmas Eve shut down, Christmas day and Sunday adds to the delay. If you wanted to avoid
4-5 day UPS ground delivery you would have to pay for premium service for two day delivery.

I would think that seven calendar days would be sufficent lead time plus 4-5 day dely.

Are these stock items?

In addition to the holiday issues, a lot of places give very conservative estimates just to cover themselves and usually ship earlier. Think of it as the price for saving money off buying it at your LHS.[:)][:)]

I've dealt with Standard Hobby Supply many times and always found them very reliable. However, I get the impression that they are in reality a very small outfit when it comes to staff, probably with just a couple of employees doing a multitude of jobs. I'm sure that at this time of year is very tough on such an arrangement and one must expect significant delays. For the huge savings they are offering on the BLI engines, if I were inthe market for one I'd be willing to wait a month!

I ordered a BLI Class A from them in November, and they told me the same thing. It did take the 12 days to get it, but that was because they had to get it from BLI first. I was told that they did not have any Class A's at their warehouse and would have to get it from BLI before they could ship it.

Even though it took 12 days, it was worth it.

Kevin
Thanks, Kevin

I just got my E8 BLI from them and it took 12 days. They did tell me about the delay as they where swamped with Holiday orders. The E8 was well worth the wait especially since no one else could match their price.

I've ordered from them a number of times, and always gotten what I consider to be good service. This close to the Holidays, it's going to take a little longer, but their prices are worth the wait.

1. STD. Hobby does not charge you unil they actually ship your order.
They do not back oder.

2. They will tell you on the phone if an item is in stock - or sold out - or "expected".

This why I like to order from them. They also take futures on some items.

Best mail order source with service, for my money

I've been buying from Standard for quite a few years & have always got excellent service w/great prices. Although I have never ordered around the holidays. I always make sure they have something in stock before I order it. I've always received my shipment w/in
10 working days & most of the time in less time than that. They always have a friendly & helpful staff. I like the idea of "no back orders". The companies that do back orders sometimes holds your order for weeks or sends part of it w/shipping charges & then when they ship your back order they charge you again for more shipping charges.
I also order a lot from Toy Train Heaven.
