I was wondering if anyone has made any type of home-made smke for and LGB Engine? That stuff is just getting so expensive to buy i want to make some of my own. Any kind of tips would help.

If you mean the smoke fluid, it is just mineral oil that you can purchase by the quart at most pharmacies. I have heard of people also using scented lamp oil, but I prefer mineral oil without any scent added to it.

Most companies formulate their smoke fluid specifically for their own smoke units. In LGB's case, it's a very thin oil, close in viscosity to kerosene. Anything much thicker than that, including pharmacy mineral oil, runs the risk of clogging up your smoke unit, and making it not work at all.
What's worse is that using the incorrect smoke fluid can cause a fire.
In other words, smoke fluid is not an area to cut costs on your model railroad. If it's too expensive for your liking, turn your units off, but don't try to save money by buying other things not intended as smoke fluid.
