What would one use to make the side shething (panel protection) on a n scale open autorack? Was there ever a article about this? Does anyone make them commercialy? Thank you
Are you referring to the "first generation" of protection for autoracks, where sheets of corrugated steel were bolted to the side braces but the tops and ends remained open? There is of course plastic sheeting that looks like corrugated metal, but my hunch is it might be a bit thick to look accurate in N scale. One thing that might work is the old E.L. Moore trick for making "free" corrugated siding for structures: he took good stiff bond paper, placed it on the plastic sheeting, and ran a dried out ball point pen tip down each corrugation. He'd then cut the paper into scale sized sheets.
